What mobile phone do you have?

I was on the o2 website there looking at my choices. How do the HTC Sensation XE and Samsung Galaxy II measure up?

Samsung Galaxy S II is excellent anyway. The HTC phone has excellent audio through those Beats headphones (think they come with it) and is probably comparable to the Samsung though I haven’t used one.

I think I will go for the HTC for exclusivity as I know of a few people who have Samsung smart phones, don’t know if it’s that exact model but I like to be different nonetheless. Rocko, will I be able to access my moderators control panel when I download TFK app after picking up my new smartphone on Friday?

I have the normal HTC Sensation. It’s an excellent phone but the poor battery life pisses me off.

Talk numbers Mac, how long will I get out of it per charge?

Another question lads, is there something I need to do with my sim card for these smart phones? I’ve been ready about micro sims and what-not.

Depends on usage. The internet drains the battery something rotten. Moderate use of some apps and general smart phone features will have the battery drained within a working day. Using it through wireless doesn’t seem to be as draining as normal internet through your network provider. New model might be better too.

So basically, it would want to be placed on charge as soon as you get in the door etc.

Hmmm, interesting, would the Galaxy or Iphone be better in this regard?

All the new phones are like that. Piss poor battery life. Mine is so bad now I have to charge it at night and then during the day if I use it for a length of time. I’d hardly call it a mobile anymore as its almost constantly plugged in!

No. Nearly all smart phones are the same… Why not bring the charger with you to work? HTC’s will charge off your comp/laptop.

The battery life is definitely better on the new model but you should google battery life tests or something to compare.

Think it’s a standard SIM too.

I’ll do that.

The newer smartphones have better battery life (the Desire for example is really poor) but they still all need a night charge. I have a Samsung Galaxy S II and charge it every night but never need to do so during the day. As CM says everyone should have a USB in work anyway and if your phone is low just leave it charging there.

I have the mapmyrun/mapmyride app on the phone and if I’m going for a run / cycle in the evening I’d have to recharge it in work during the day. It’s more an annoyance than a problem. I’ve chargers everywhere, one in the car, one at the desk, and a couple dotted around the gaff as you never know when you’ll need a top up. Only becomes a problem if I know I’m going to be out all day without the car and then out for the evening too. You might find yourself having to limit your usage so you’re not left with a dead battery too early.

Galaxy SIII will be out within a few months thought to be anounced in the next 4-6 weeks so buying a Galaxy sII now would not be the best idea

How long should I charge the phone for first time round?

I’d imagine until it’s fully charged. I’m no techie tho, maybe best to phone customer service on this one.

Old batteries used to be finicky about initial charges and full discharges but don’t think that’s the case anymore. What did you end up getting?

Got the Sensation XE, I must say I’m liking it so far Rocko.
