What mobile phone do you have?

Its unlocked

Galaxy a5, btw bought from samsung in a more money than sense moment

Its capped. Rightly or wrongly I dont know

Should only be capped at your cap at home afaik.
I was using mine up on the volcano in tenerife to look stuff up that we were seeing. Excellent speed.

Thats what the theory is. I have unlimited data at home and its capped at 15 mb or something while roaming in europe

I’ve an S8 and it’s the best phone I’ve ever had. Changed my life in ways I never thought possible. There’s a few cracks in it now but I insured it so I’m gonna trade it in for a new one.

You’re being mugged off mate, or else you have it wrong. Your allowance should be the same regardless of country once you’re in the EU. Minutes, texts or data.

:man_shrugging::man_shrugging::man_shrugging::man_shrugging:

I have unlimited data, what do I get?

If you have unlimited data in Ireland, you can calculate your roaming allowance by dividing the amount you pay every month (minus VAT) by 6 and multiplying the answer by 2.

For example, let’s say you pay €20 a month for a plan that includes unlimited data. Minus VAT you pay €15.60. Divide this number by 6 and multiply by 2 to get 5.2.

Your roaming limit is 5.2GB.

Why do you divide by 6 and multiply by 2. Why not just divide by 3??

I’m out of contract. Have an iPhone 6 and am on Vodafone family and friends. Should I stick or twist? SIM only, what’s the deal with that? Have a Samsung A5 with work, grand phone, what’s so good about the S8?

The S line is the marquee line of Samsung phones. They have much better parts. Better screen, better processors, more RAM. The thing I was saying is that within that line, Samsung have nowhere to go because the S8 was an excellent phone, the differences between the S8, 9 and 10 are minimal. Why pay €500 for the S10 when the S8 is free.

The next big thing is the foldable phones. The first attempt at those was a omnishambled clusterfuck. For the next year or two we’re in a bit of a holding pattern.

Got the S8 this week for free on €35pm billpay renewing with Vodafone. The S8 is out of manufacture so if you want it you may need to hunt around. Carphone Warehouse Newbridge found one for me which was nice of them. Or you can wait around a few months for the S11 to release and the price of the S9 to drop. Same is almost certainly true of iPhones, but I couldn’t be arsed actually researching it.

Anyone spending €350+ for a top end flagship phone or locked into €80pm contracts are being spectacularly shafted.

Balls I have my S8 insured and wanted to get a new one due to a few cracks. If it’s it out of manufacture where will that leave me?

Assuming you’ve shoved your thumb up your hole, it’ll probably leave you with your thumb up your hole.

Correct assumption.

How much is am S8/S9 SIM free?

S9 is €769!

I have an S7 edge for 3 years now. It is still working perfectly. Battery life as good as the day I bought it. Anyone with an i phone needs their head examined. My wife has had a succession of them in the period Iv had this. No comparison

I paid €480 for an S9 in Cologne back in February, on a Vodafone Sim Free package.
€480 was too much to be paying as well but we really are being raped in this country by mobile phone companies.

€480 for a device you basically live and work through probably isnt that bad if it lasts you 3 years. Compared to spending 300 on something like a Hoover.
