The biggest problem was all this happened a couple of weeks before chrimbo and I ended up with a portfolio of over 500 smart customers trying to phone lines provisioned before the 25th, which would’ve been easily achievable if eir wholesale pulled their fingers out of their holes.
I know of a good few of them who grew impatient after a week and then went to eir and got provisioned that day.
And all of that is before we had to try and add broadband to the line…
Can’t honestly describe what I’d like to do to some of the muppets on eirs customer care team, dropping calls after 50 minutes, blatant lies etc, fir free I wouldn’t even contemplate going back
We moved into a new house years ago when they would have been Eircom. New house had a phone line and all ready to go so I bought a handset plugged it in and did whatever was needed to get it activated with Eircom. Used to come home each evening and check for a dial-tone only to have none. Got onto Eircom to be told the remote activation had failed or something like that and an engineer would need to call to the house. Of course this could take at least 10 working days etc and would mean someone would have to be at home which would have been a pain. Anyway, I was in work and an Eircom engineer was in installing a new circuit of some sort and I happened to mention my situation to him. He asked me for the phone number of my new phone line and I left him to do his other work. Before leaving he told me my home phone had been sorted and when I got home that evening if was working. So much for engineer visits and another few weeks delay along with the hassle of having to be at home for the engineer.
They would of been going on the basis that the line was in situ.
However they are cunning bastards once the line has not been used in a year they de activate the line remotely and charge customers I think it was 121.00 euro for activation or you get it for free if staying with them for a year.
A lot of complaints that was raised was sorted out by customers approaching there local technician they may know personally.
Switching the Mrs over to one of those Virgin SIM only 10 euro jobs today.
My contract isn’t up until October, but my phone is kind of snookered. They’ll offer me an upgrade next month, but I think I’ll pass on it and see out the contract before switching over to sim only also (my current plan is only 30 a month but reducing it would be useful).
Think someone asked earlier but any recommendations for a decent SIM free phone in the 150-250 (max) euro bracket? New one please, not one of these refurbished jobs.
