Whats the best Irish radio station to listen to?

I’d give his show to Keelin Shanley. She’s impressed me anytime I’ve heard/seen her.

This is an absolute bombshell. Biggest transfer of the summer by a mile. It’s like Iniesta leaving Barca to join Newcastle. Ill miss Pat and Des’s 11 o’clock banter, I’ll miss Pat pretending to love the performances of his musical guests, but most of all I’ll miss that theme tune.

Does this kill his RTE TV gig? Any chance he’ll join in with Vinny on TV3?

Pretty much…

Pat is 65, he in on the wind-down, nothing to lose.

Unbelievable scenes. Huge move from Newstalk. McDevitt and company will surely be hoping to get his RTÉ slot now!

Any news on the money he is getting from O’Brien for this?

He’s the young pretender for Vinny’s seat now, certainly.

Montrose to Marconi House. Sad end for a great current affairs broadcaster. He wouldn’t have been out of place at aunty. I can give Pat no higher praise than that.

More than O’Brien is paying Trappatoni I’d say

I’d say Pat’s ego was hurt when his Frontline show got usurped into Prime Time. No longer was he the centre of attention. Now he had to share the stage with O’Callaghan and Byrne who some people (not me) would want to see more anyway.

I never liked Kenny. I thought him atrocious in light entertainment. Anyone who disagrees watch his interview with Jerry Seinfeld. I thought he was overrated in current affairs and could noticeably take a side in the proceedings - like he did in a teachers debate a year or so back. He also struck me as someone who loved himself and that is never good.

He must be on the wind down now.

He was always ok on the radio but as farmer says, light entertainment not his strength.

By Irish standards he was a good current affairs presenter.

Light entertainment wasn’t his thing but I still sooner him than Tubridy.

Hopefully he’ll be able to use his extra freetime indulging his passions: feeding badgers and reading up on adverse possession

If I was 65 and having earned as much as PK has, my next gig would be doing fuck all. I don’t get these lads who want to continue on working when they are financially stable for the rest of their lives.

fair enough but job satisfaction in a hardware store differs than being radio

I guess its the more immediate nature of dealing with the public Bhoy, only the other day I was complimented on the choice of galvinated screw I recommended to a tradie. You just don’t get that kind of personal interraction being on the radio. Look what its done to Liam Spratt.

Very strong indications that Claire Byrne is getting PK’s gig. As if we don’t have to suffer her enough as it is. Typical RTÉ taking a safe pick and over exposing yet another female personality

I do hope the rugger bugger crowd don’t see this, the RTE website will crash.

I’d say RTE have nothing to worry about, there has to be a few cocks involved to peak their interest
