I listened to Radio One with SOR and then Sarah M during the lockdown. I don’t see that continuing with CB. I didn’t like her on Newstalk and don’t like her now.
I’ve always found her TV programme pretty poor and tabloidy. A lot of contrived debates, which I’ve mentioned before. Here’s Danny Healy-Rae arguing with the Irish Roads Authority about whether drink driving should be permitted. And what’s up after the break? Some fascist pitted against a normal person to debate whether fascism is grand. Giving a platform to viewpoints that should be ignored.
Not to mention all the COVID-19 guff…McDonkey and the reclusive immunologist Luke O’Neill having a mask sewing (spelling?) competition, the studio converted into a hairdresser’s and Nuala Carey here to have her hair done under the new conditions and so on.
She hosted a decent general election debate last winter but her repeal debate descended into complete chaos with a load of freaks like FF’s Mary Butler screaming down gynaecologists throughout.
That’s more of an RTE policy problem than Byrne’s decision tbf, and the tabloidy stuff again would probably be down to the editorial/production side. She’s comfortable enough at that level of stuff though
She’s from Laois too. Hard to take anyone from that county seriously
Here’s the reply you were looking for.
An agonising 4 hours for you I’m sure
I got to you as quickly as I could and with as much importance as you deserved
Ed Smith having a Tour de France on his Songs of Praise. 90s night
I have been listening to bits of his show most evenings for the last few months. Plays an excellent mix of music
Really enjoyed tonight. Enjoy the Silence followed by Lucky from OK Computer being the highlight.
“We don’t need nobody else” was mine. Tune!
It’s a good show. Haven’t listened for a while.
Claire Byrne interviewing Michael Martin here. In fairness she’s giving him a grueling. But he’s one watery unconvincing guffbucket
Twitter still not happy that Claire Byrne got the gig ahead of Sarah McInerney
Much of a muchness methinks
It will make no terrible great difference to 99.999999% of the Irish population .
I am listening to Tubridy radio now and he seems to have a handy enough shift based on what I hear so far . I haven’t heard it in a couple of years
An hour in the morning reading off whatever’s trending on Twitter. A fairly handy number tbf.
I hadn’t listened in a while but it seems a handy enough shift . He plays a few tunes as well .
Perfect for a lightweight like him.
This should appease the masses. An incredible line up now on RTÉ. Ryan and Ray bringing the masculinity.
Difficult time to be a man at RTÉ
