Anyone heading along to the lads this year?

Pretty sure I will be.

Fooking fantastic they were last year.

Saw them 2 years ago in the Point - cracking show. What date is it on this year farmer? Hard to believe McGowan can still perform. Usually the greatest collection of scumbags you’re likely to see in one place this side of Xmas.

Monday 22nd

Don’t go if you don’t like to be pushed and thrown and dragged and squashed.

Then the band starts.

Saw them at oxygen this year and they were unbeliveable. Definately one of the highlights of the weekend.

I had seated tickets in the Point. Good view of the crowd. I was nearly stoned off the huge amounts of hash being smoked on the ground. Not to generalise though! Fair few hooped jerseys around but wouldnt let that discourage people from going. Presume its on in the RDS again this year?

Rovers or Celtic?

Went to see them about 3/4 years ago in the point. Fantastic gig and the place went wild. McGowan left the stage about 8 times to take little mini breaks. Ronnie Drew sang on stage with them the same night

They were unreal last year. Monday’s a shite night for a gig but reckon I’ll head along again this year alright. You got tickets Farmer?

Not yet but will look into it over the next few days.

This thread seems to be brought out every year.

I was at the Pogues for the last two years, 2007 they were amazing, last year they weren’t as good.

What is the story with tickets does anyone know? Easy to get hold of? They are playing the three nights next weekend so I would say there should be a few around still.

Rocko - any plans for this?

Bump.

The Pogues apparently playing their farewell Christmas gigs on Wednesday December 8th, and Thursday Decemeber 9th in the Olympia.

Think I’ll go again this year.

The Pogues - Lullaby of London

Songwriters: MacGowan, Shane

As I walked down by the riverside
One evening in the spring
Heard a long gone song
From days gone by
Blown in on the great North wind.
Though there is no lonesome corncrake’s cry
Or sorrow and delight
You can hear the cars
And the shouts from bars
And the laughter and the fights.

May the ghosts that howled
Round the house at night
Never keep you from your sleep
May they all sleep tight
Down in hell tonight
Or where ever they may be.

As I walked on with a heavy heart
Then a stone danced on the tide
And the song went on
Though the lights were gone
And the North wind gently sighed
And an evening breeze coming from the east
That kissed the riverside
So I pray now child that you sleep tonight
When you hear this lullaby.

May the wind that blows from haunted graves
Never bring you misery
May the angels bright
Watch you tonight
And keep you while you sleep.

Got tickets there for Wednesday 8th December.

Ah lovely.

Tomorrow night

Twenty fucking five to one
Me gambling days are done
I bet on a horse called the Bottle of Smoke
And my horse won!

Saw McGowan last year at xmass in the West County with Sharaon Shannon, Mundy, cracking gig.
RUmour went around that Shane was carried out drunk at 9pm, everybody was pretty down, he appeared on stage at 10pm and burst into fiesta and brought the place down. Great gig…Shannon backing him in Clare also made it more special

Had the Pogues on full belt driving home there.
Pure quality.

This one could be a good first airing for my new xmass glasgow rangers shirt
