[quote=“caoimhaoin, post: 858283, member: 273”]That’s it. That’s what makes Tony Kelly’s selection for both awards even more ridiculous.
If Tony Kelly gets consistent then we have an all-time great on our hands. He is very young still so he has plenty time to get to that level. But until he gets consistent it’s insane the accolades he is getting.

@caoimhaoin has been out in the sun too long. For his age, what Kelly did this year makes his awards more than valid. You do realize he is only 20 years of age.
So give him YPOTY, or at least let him be nominated there. He’s a great bit of stuff, but I think others were more deserving. How hard is that to get your head around?

Give it up, he deserved the awards.
I said him getting 2 awards was stupid. Stop trying to muddy exactly what I said now. Did the players nominate the players for awards? I don’t believe they did.
You do live in a country which consistently voted in Fianna Fáil, so don’t mind if I take “voting” with a pinch of salt.
Another thing about Kelly and Collins is that they played a lot of their games being totally unmarked and when they were marked tightly they were ineffective
Harnedy was good in every game, excellent in a few. I felt he kept Cork in a couple of games. Less silky work than Kelly, but overall consistently effective.
The way I look at players it’s what are they doing for their team. Some of Kelly’s stuff is selfish showman stuff when better options were on. Collins in particular was all about team for Clare, Harnedy the same for Cork.
Well Brian Murphy tied the 2 of them up. The selections make no sense really. Shane O Neill was easily the best full back player till the replay, yet that game cost him. Kelly played 1 outrageous game and another very good game and a couple of games he was missing yet he is HOTY & YHOTY.
In the football Connolly has been shafted to accommodate Aidan O Se who completely shat the course in the final. Where is the consistency?

Above i claimed he deserved his awards, you rated the post Dumb. The players voted en mass for the chap, so you are in effect rating their votes Dumb. Simple really, unless reading between your lines is completely different to other normal human beings?
Collins was cleaned in the All Ireland Final replay & that effectively fucked his chances imo.

Absolute muck and you know it. I rated it dumb because you were dismissing everyone’s opinion who didn’t agree with you. It couldn’t be clearer that I think Kelly is a top player and had a “good” year. I have no problem disagreeing with the majority, most people are sheep.
