A 3 year term doesn’t really mean anything. It’s not a proper contract. He’ll probably keep the job if he wants it due to lack of alternatives more than anything else but another year like this year and not a hope he’d get the 3rd year

What ages are seamie and paudie and Brendan and bonnar? Plenty fellas writing them off already and saying tipp need to rebuild, but there’s no reason they can’t recapture their best form for another three seasons anyway, tipp need to be targeting winning an AI before those guys do fall away, as in next year, year after.

They are all 29. seamie is 30 in a few months and Brendan and Paudie 30 around January.

This is Seamie’s 11th season. The three mahers and Noel mcgrath’s 10th. Lots of miles on clock

There’s no reason they can’t be still at their best for 3 more seasons, and have a role to play for another two years.

I’d agree. The main problem is that there has been a lack of leaders to emerge outside that group.

The only fellas that you’d say are more or less nailed on starters would be John McGrath, Barrett when not in some kind of external bother, Ronan Maher and Forde this year.

Even to think about something as ceremonial as the captain . It was Brendan Maher for three years. Padraic Maher for the past two. Vice-captaincy has been rotated amongst that 06/07 Minor cohort.

A poisoned chalice if ever there was one. I think Mick Ryan will leave it.

Two standout candidates though, Nicky and Sheedy. Anyone else will be a gamble or a disaster.

Alot of lads do not understand team dynamics.

Tipp are only a bit of a tidy up away from an away ireland. That’s the reality.

Even if MR stays on it could happen. Just change things, be ruthless. Couple of new hungry selectors who awayllre coaches. New head coach, new s&C, whatever.

The first thing you need to make a successful hurling team is good hurlers. Not sure tgere is a county out there with the spread of hurlers like them.

Obviously Galway are top men and deservedly so, but they are and reasonably small solid pick of quality players. Tipp arguably could have more depth
