Who's getting out of Munster - Hurling 2023 - Poll

I think Clare will be as good as eliminated after two games.

Hard to look beyond Munster. It’s too competitive

I don’t think Limerick threw the kitchen sink at them last year, the days of Limerick coming close to peak for Munster final are gone,
They scraped by a shocking Cork team by shooting the lights out in the first half, the rest of Munster was pitiful.

I think they’re massively overrated as potential champions, not a chance

A bear pit.

@backinatracksuit has been consistent in not rating Clare and that is fair enough. But Lohan has completely reenergised and retooled the team in his three years they have consistently improved year on year under him. Take out his first and last championship match and Clare have been a consistent and competitive side under him and their limitations are becoming less and less.

Now that doesn’t guarantee they will continue to improve but they were excellent in Munster last year which was a fair achievement given how many injuries they had to deal with over the winter and spring leading into the championship last year. They were every bit the equals of Waterford, Tipp and Cork in 2021 and kicked on last year - I think the other three have to find a bit of improvement to get to the level of Clare last year in the round robin

Clare creep up on you. They look absolutely useless with average players yet they grind out results for some unexplainable reason.

They’re tough and seasoned and have one of the best hurlers of all time who can win games by himself

We’re talking about Munster here right?

Anyway, i think they’re physically well conditioned and have some lovely tricky forwards that will cause any team trouble. They’ve improved year on year… the question remains if they can take another step forward under Lohan. I’ll guess we’ll see.

I said they’re overrated, Munster is in the thread title but I’m not bound by it.

If you asked me now I’d say they’ll come out of Munster as the third team, somebody has to.

What has you rating Cork so highly?

Open your eyes mate. Cork are flying

I’m not so sure

2nd in Munster is hardly crazy.
Tipp and Waterford aren’t great, and I think Cork are better than Clare,
I don’t think Cork can beat Limerick in Croke park, Kilkenny and Galway are both very dangerous,
So I don’t think I rate Cork that highly, I just don’t rate them as low as others (if you know what I mean)

I get ya. I genuinely think that Cork are up against Waterford and Tipp for that third spot. I think they’ll get it. I’d rate Clare higher than all of them

He was cocksure Cork would bate them last year and he’s seething over it since

Do you really see them as that consistent? Are Clare not about equally as likely to turn up and be the team from the all Ireland quarter and semi final last year as the team from the Munster final?

great thread Julio

the reality is no one really has a clue when it comes to calling the three

For the sake of it, nailed my colours to the mast

Limerick - because they are all ireland champions several times over and poor league form means nothing if you judge by 2022

Cork - not because I am convinced about them but just because Cork are Cork, year one bounce with Pat Ryan, have had some decent under age teams , mushroom theory etc etc

Waterford - have been so kack in the championship in recent years, there must be some bit of pride in them to throw the kitchen sink at it in 2023 plus a crazy Davy year one bounce

Anyways the above are my three

Discounting Tipp - look to have too much ground to make up, havent really replaced Bendan Maher, Paudie Maher or Bonnar Maher, ok Bonnar is still aroud but hardly the man of times past. Callinan is getting on has had lots of injuries

Clare - think they may have boxed above their weight in 2022 and havent been great under age for a while

When you take away their Limerick hatred five point bonus they are ordinary enough

They’ve not won a trophy since Davy was ousted.

They need him back.

That was a great day, I won my age category in the GLR.

I probably did think Cork would beat them last year, I don’t even remember,
I don’t think they’re great, I have no agenda, don’t be upset
