Why is rooral Oireland so determined to hold the country back?

So ye fucked up all those projects and now you want more money? Rewarding poor performance

@mac and @gilgamboa seem to be making the case that as Dublin is the main economic driver of the nation and shows signs of needing significant infrastructural investment it should not receive significant investment. Bizarre.

I think the point of the 2040 plan should be to focus capital spending on developing counter-weights to Dublin in a small number of specific named cities while continuing to invest heavily in Dublin. The issue is that every yahoo thinks that their local town should get a decent bit of the pie - thereby defeating the whole purpose of the plan.

You look at the SDZ and you just have to despair. Most of the buildings 6 floor squat glass houses. It is now the engine room of the Irish economy but Google are being forced to rent out in Sandyford now rather than build up.

I wouldn’t deny that Dublin City Councillors play a big role in this.

The inevitable water wars will see this farce super structure called ireland finally come to an end and provincial nation states be reestablished.

And yet if you are not on the luas line or Dart you can forget about getting to work on time on a bus. .some joke alright.

Are you going to build roads in the sky, a monorail or a tunnel under the bay or something? One road in and one road out. It’s a car park in rush hour as it is. Dublin’s proximity to the sea makes it impossible to build a proper city. Everything is concentrated on routes into one area but all from one side. It’s going to burst.

The skyline point is a bit valid but look at Sandyford as an example. It’s a standstill during rush hour. A luas service that can’t handle the crowds and no local services for anyone living there. And that’s before you get to complexes that currently violate fire standards with noone to pay the fees to bring them up to scratch.

Isnt that what governments do? After all its not coming from their pockets per se and if they are short sure we will just dip our hands into peoples pension funds and pockets

It’s a shame more Muldoons don’t have this attitude.

The height limit is based on no laws I am aware of but a bureaucrat in the corporation

Water taxis. A tunnel. New rail system
Why not a mono rail

Dublin does not get the capital investment that it’s taxes raise.

The majority of Celtic Tiger boom money went on building motorways for country people to get home quicker.

The Dubs can fuck off back to England where they belong. Just another dreary English provincial town.

Maybe we should have a Dexit

Celtic peoples never lived in collective settlements or what we would consider towns. Its against nature, the miserable state of almost all irish urban areas confirms this.

No wonder they are all on heroin there.,

Sure didn’t I have to get my third level education in Dublin. I was blessed to be able to leave my mud hut and better myself.

You should still have an option of going to a train station and being in dublin in an hour or so…I don’t think it’s a lot to ask .and if you did have the option all the housing issues in dublin would drop as like you said there is a much better life outside of dublin…its the infrastructure is the issue…as far as im aware there is only one cunting track from bray to Wexford and the sea will get that eventually !

Thinly veiled “I desire an economically unsustainable bungalow near a parish pump”

Wrong.
