Pigmentum Malbec from Cahors in France down to a tenner in Supervalue
It’s all Greek to me.
I’ve a few bottles of Georgian wine but not sure how to open them as they are in clay bottles.
Went to 4 Lidl’s today and the Hachon sold out
It’s nice. Burgundy like.
This picqued my interest. Turns out you scrape off top and a regular cork under it.
I’m about to taste my first Georgian wine.
It smells like feet
Tastes nicer than it smells but not great. No immediacy to it.
Too earthy for me.
It’s undrinkable.
I know the feeling well enough unfortunately
Get a consaw and cut the top off.
Languedoc was recommended as great bang for Buck for French wines on tonight’s class.
A Gerard Bertrand (former French rugby player) wine this evening
Carignan from Languedoc
Not sure. No immediacy to it for me. A meh
I opened a really quite lovely sangiovese. I have no idea where it came from. It had a lovely colour, like they all do.
Sangiovese is lovely
It is, by and large. Always a beautiful colour.
Corbieres is very hit and miss in my experience, as are the wines of monsieur Bertrand. The best wines I’ve tasted from the Languedoc are Pic Saint Loup, but I’m sure there are other good ones to be found. It depends a lot on the varietals used, Carignane is OK as a blending grape but the best ones from there are heavily Syrah and Grenache similar to good Rhone wines.
You can’t go wrong with anything from the area between Florence and Siena
I’m not much of an Italian wine buff but many years ago I bought a case of Brunello and kept it for a good few years. It was only delightful.
Hungarian wine in Lidl this week. Never tried it. Not sure there’s enough immediacy for me to try it
