Ps you need to add £2 duty and 20% vat per bottle on to the price, so a tenner ends up at £14. The duty is another brexit bonus.
The duty is irrespective of price, so Boris and his ilk don’t get clobbered any more for a £500 claret than the plebs who pay for him do for a £7 bottle of asti in the petrol station.

We taught them that.

There’s a general guideline that good vintage French red wine is best either drunk in the first 2-5 years when they are young and fruity or aged for at least 10 years when the more complex flavors develop (15+ for a good vintage Bordeaux).

Picked up a bottle of this earlier very nice :ok_hand:

I’m not a huge fan. It’s always on sale in a supermarket somewhere. It’s a ford Mondeo wine I think.

Which supermarket has that deal?

Supervalu. Don’t mind @flattythehurdler, he only wants to recommend wines that comes from his monthly wine magic box.

It’s a serious drop

Lah di dah

Is there something wrong with a Ford Mondeo?

Roasters have an inherent and unfair dislike of Fords

Old bill

This is really lovely.

I’m drinking this this evening. There was a lovely American pinot noir on the plane a while back. Got this off the wine society for £15 a bottle. Not a patch on the stuff on the plane, but decent for the money

Californian Pinot as well as Oregon and Washington State Pinots tend to be lovely. So are the German and Austrian ones.

German Pinot is very “in”. Much better value than equivalent French wine.

American wine is very good but it’s by and large expensive over here

On this today from winespark. It’s too expensive for what it is or maybe it’s too heavy for me

The cheaper one from same maker is as nice i think at less than half the price

American wine is expensive in America too by the way.

It is. I remember being under some misapprehension it would be cheaper there when I was over. It’s maybe even dearer there as they can charge what they like in California.
