With rent increasing is now the time to buy a 2nd property from the bank

You’ll likely end up doing some sort of renovation or upgrade on the 2003 house… Its won’t have underfloor heating, it will have design issues, windows need replacing within 10 years… so you’ll end up firing 100k plus on it at some stage.

I’d nearly go with the new build and design it as you want it from the start.

2003 houses are mud huts compared to new builds.

Would lads me saying the same in 2032 about this one though?
The site would cost more than 100k (been offered substantially more)

Not sure about aspect of the one for sale. If we build we would have a nice, though not outstanding view from the ground floor. If they’d let us use the original height, we’d have been able to see the sea and the lake from the top floor (and the hurling club)

Id build in a heartbeat if it was affordable.

I won’t be after this.

Are you happy where you are?

I’d never move now,

It’s affordable but it’ll be a stretch.

There’s nothing like living in a house that you’ve designed and built. Alot of lads will never know the feeling.

I’m happy, but I want to move home.

I was responding to choice between buying a second hand house vs building on a site. Its the latter all day long imho.

You won’t regret it. Will seem like a bargain in 10 years time.
