Word question

how do i type sq ft in Word so that it shows up ft (with the little 2 over it)

Should be a thing on your formatting pallette with A2 on it

Otherwise you can write a date and bastardise it

just write ft2 and then highlight the 2, go to format, font, choose superscript. There ya go.

Ahem, sorry lads? keep it simple stupid

ecxellent rocko thanks

Seen as it’s techie time. Can’t get onto rarlab.com over here to download that zip thing. Any other options for me???

You could get somebody here to download it for you and then send the install file via yousendit.com

Theres plenty of places to get winrar other than that website, just google it.

Yeah what Flano said. It should be available on thousands of sites.

managed that, now how do i set it up so that every time I type ft2 it comes up right for me (auto replace/quick keys?)? I have doen this loads of times before but cannot figure it out this morning

Do you not just get bandage to type up your documents for you?

Or are you typing a secret memo calculating how much sq ft you will gain in the office after he gets the boot?

dan’s just trying to calculate how many square feet his geeky compliance manuals will take up in a press on the office floor.*

  • dan’s a few years away from getting his own office.

Right so write ft2 and correct it as described above. Then highlight the corrected ft2 and go to format, then autoformat, then options, autocorrect.

You should see an empty box on the left called Replace and a box on the right called With with ft2 (formatted correctly) in it. In the left hand box type in ft2 unformatted and then click ok and it should remember to do that correction.

Might be located in a different place in other versions of Word but that’s how I do it.

easiest way I do it Dan is to press Alt + 0178 (). Use it quite often in my line of work. 0179 brings up .

handy little thing is charmap. I always have it as a shortcut on desktop as its handy for ticking box signs and other things, especially on the wingdings settings.

Fucking hell, every day is a learning day eh?!

TFK, the learning website.

If you open up that charmap program you see lots of little things that are handy to use. fractions are automatically done properly now on word, but before they werent, I’d be coding them in. Really get used to the numbers when you’re doing them so often.

Yeah equation editor is a very useful tool in word for all that stuff.

Nerd.

While on the topic of word my trial for Office 2007 ran out the other day and they can go fuck themselves if they think Im paying for it. They destroyed it with their removal of normal menus. I think I’ll stick with using the old laptop with Office 2003.
