Do we know each other?
“Prohibition has failed” is an empty soundbyte and it’s also deliberately loaded in terms of language because of the ludicrous associations the word prohibition has.
The reality is drugs is a pretty much unsolvable problem and you can only have least worst solutions.
You shouldn’t criminalise because users are victims and ruining their lives by criminal records only drives them deeper into drugs, or crime.
I think there are decent arguments to be made for the legalisation of cannabis. To just blanket legalise all drugs as you want would unleash a public health disaster.
Do you think it’s right what’s happening with legal drugs like fentanyl and oxycontin in the US? That’s drug legalisation in action. Should we want that too?
What a woman, shame she’s so right wing:
So anyone who disagrees with Sid’s right wing views is right wing?
Bizarre
I’ve wrecked his morning there
He didn’t make a reasonable point. He used the same logic as the gun nuts in the US use to try and protect the free availability of killer weapons.
Using that same logic one would argue that AR-15s and Domestos are equally as harmful, and thus should either both be banned or both be freely available.
Massive difference between decriminalisation and legalisation
Decriminalizing and legalization are completely different things. Decriminalizing users is definitely an achievable goal and would ease burden on the criminal justice systems. Legalizing would burden the public health system to breaking point
Disagree with your first point. Prohibition has demonstrably failed. Utterly and repeatedly, historically and now. It’s not loaded or a soundbyte, it’s a fact.
Completely agree on your second point.
Complete agree on your third.
Where did I say I want to blanket legalise all drugs? Christ above why do you continually make up things that I say and respond to them instead of what I’ve actually said.
Honestly, do you even skim the first line of a post before you launch into a response to it with an ehm actually blah blah blah culture wars you’re a right wing apologist?
Come on would you.
You don’t know the difference between legalisation and decriminalisation. Probably because you’re taking too many drugs. Oooooft.
He made an entirely reasonable point. You made an entirely unreasonable response. it’s painful stuff from you. There isn’t any logic to it. Your conclusions don’t follow. It’s nonsense. You’re capable of better.
OK. So because Domestos is sold in supermarkets, we should sell heroin in supermarkets. Gotcha.
Sure you won’t respond to any of the questions around the negative impact of legalizing hard drugs either and not legalizing others. It’s hard have an argument with a fella who’s head is buried in the sand
It’s being tackled in this country from Jan 1st there will be the same minimum price for a unit of alcohol in both supermarkets and pubs
Northern Ireland have reneged on their commitment to do this at the same time as they see a commercial advantage in being cheaper
Ok dum dum
You want to legalise most drugs.
So what you do propose to do to wipe out the trade in the remaining drugs which would remain illegal?
And what will happen? An alcohol black market will thrive both sides of the border.
the drug lords will be nice guys and just give up their market share
Will it be cheaper to buy alcohol in a off license or supermarket than it will be on licensed public house?
Yes or no.
