The top goal scorer one is intriguing. You’re generally looking at the group stage here, a weak group where a team can be hockeyed and a reasonable last 16 game can give you 5 matches for a player to do the business.
Group A and Group G are certainly the weakest with Saudi Arabia in Group A as the whipping boys and Russia and Egypt could cough up a few also. Group G has Panama and Tuinisia.
Uruguay and Belgium look to have a good shout at the quarter finals so I’d be looking at Lukaku and Cavani/Suarez here.
Belgium have a nice path, they’re likely to top their group with Panama, Tunisia and England and should have enough to overcome the likes of Senegal/Poland/Japan in the last 16.
Mertens himself has been in tremendous form at club level over the past two seasons bagging 56 goals.
What role he will play for Belgium is the biggest question mark but I think Belgium’s nice path through to the QF combined with his goal scoring potential make him a value bet at 84/1.
unbeaten in competitive matches since the euro semi finals. won all their qualifying games handsomely and won the confederations cup. friendlys don’t matter a fuck to the Germans.
They’ll perform, they’re Germany. Semi finals at least.
