World cup destroying the GGA in the TV ratings war

So greater numbers of the Irish public watched the English soccer team rather than the Irish team play Denmark in a qualifier . Ergo the GGA and Irish rugby are fucked .

That merits serious analysis and I hope the IRFU & GGA give the matter die diligence .

Yep, considering that big football games like the euros trounce bogball in terms of viewing numbers I think you can assume people saw the score and clocked out

Ireland at the euros trounce any sporting event

Eire or Ireland?

The best part is usually Dunphy raving at the end anyways.

The big reveal here is more people watched England v Croatia than Ireland v England at rugby. Rugby off season has nothing to do with anything and is a deflection. The numbers donā€™t lie.

Is it a reveal that Ireland is full of EPL fanboys?

Stage 6

@Little_Lord_Fauntleroy reckons the League of Ireland is only the equivalent of the GAA club championships so I guess the poor fans have no real elite teams to follow unfortunately.

Nah the World Cup (no qualifying adjective needed) is Box Office. Box. office.

It was off the charts too. Compare it to a French rugby game.

Sure Portugal v Wales in 2016 Euros smashed the rugby.

In the context of this being rugby country - yes.

The EPL trumps GAA , rugby and domestic soccer in Ireland .

It is the real national sport .

And the world cup and euros trump everything

England trump everything .

UK teams, Liverpool, Man U and Glasgow are the most popular teams in Eire.

Eire soccer types are so let down by their own experience of Independence they identify and revel in British culture. As Lord Kiclooney quite rightly put it, its their own fault for leaving the United Kingdom in 1922.
