Ye Olde League Cup Thread

its all or nothing with him alright. zero pace once beaten. thought he was learning though and owned Suarez at Anfield not too long ago. Lambert had put a lot of faith in him

Bradford are into the League Cup final beating Aston Villa over two legs in the semi’s.

You’re kidding me.

Just switched over there for the after match reaction. That Dean Saunders seems like an insufferable cunt, there is no way anyone with that sort of personality will make it in football management.

The Bradford team cost in the region of £7.5k!

more evidence this season if any were needed of how sh1t a manager martin o neill is.

every single club he has gone into gets a temporary spike lasting 12 to 18 months due to his ability to buy old has beens and flog the hell out of them but when he leaves the club invariably crumbles under the weight of a huge wage bill for players who can`t be sold and no youth work being done

Ridiculous to pin tonight on O’Neill as there’s been a few managers there - Houllier, McLeish and now Lambert - and a significant amount of time has elapsed since he departed for them to shape the club in whatever way they wished. They may have had less money to spend than O’Neill but he didn’t leave them in such a state (three consecutive 6th place finishes) that they should be bowing out to Bradford. Plus they recouped good money on some of his signings like Ashley Young and James Milner. As for youth work, their academy system is regarded as one of the best in the EPL and their current travails are being attributed to an over-reliance on young players and a lack of experience more than anything.

Celtic winning three leagues in a row between 2006 and 2008 and qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League twice, beating Manchester United and European Champions AC Milan and also being cheated of a late penalty which would have won them the tie against eventual champions AC Milan in 2006/07 is evidence of what a brilliant manager Martin O’Neill is.

Martin O’Neill took Villa from battling relegation to challenging for CL places. He left and now they are back to fighting relegation.

Cat got your tongue KIB Man?

Martin o neill is a British queen loving…

3 out of 5 SPL titles is hardly a huge achievement. Strachan’s got… further in Europe. Never took Villa higher in the EPL than O’Leary, Little, Gregory, Atkinson. I’d rate JG a better manager marginally for the club than MON. Both managed for instant success and the here and now. No doubt MON is a better manager than the 3 he replaced though.

The Bradford City team that dumped Birmingham Villa out of the English League Cup cost a grand total GBP£7,500 to assemble. That’s around 10% of Darren Bent’s weekly wage.

:strokechin:

The funniest thing about last night was how much Birmingham Villa seemed to want it. Just been reading up on Lambert’s call to arms in the programme and them handing out free flags and stuff to fans to make Villa Park a “cauldron”. And then fourth tier Bradford with their squad of loanees and free transfer signings rock up and progress without much fuss.

The Villians went delirious when they went 1-0 up like they’d scored against Barcelona in a champions league final, worth watching back. They were looking at their feet when Bradford equalised.

Saw that on Sky Sports News this morning. Lambert went running up the touchline while punching the air.

Which one of ye useless fucks edited my post? God forbid anyone should speak out against Sir Martin.

I heard from a die hard Birmingham Villa fan that, villa will have to fork out another £5m for Darren Bent if he reaches 50 appearances for Villa, he is currently on 48…
