Ye Olde League Cup Thread

A full strength Arsenal losing 1-0 at HT against Bradford City.

Bradford City one up against some other inferior side

No surprises there. Bradford are a big club and they are playing a very lowly side.

2-0 Bradford now against Aston Villa in the league cup semi-final and if anything the bigger club look like they will only extend their lead here.

Had radio 5 live on in the background earlier. Robbie Savage was scathing of Villa

goal back for Villa. Valley Parade is a tough place to go. Red hot atmosphere there

Cracking goal…
Villa are woeful

ffs

if we dont get through the second leg then Lambert could be on his way

Ciaran Clark is getting a load of stick on one of the Villa forums I just looked at. He seems to have gone to pieces since the Chelsea defeat

It must have been on fire tonight.

Worring times for the villa kib…they look like conceding every time a team attacks them…it wouldn’t surprise me if he was sacked tonight…Martin o Neil is the man that fucked villa up IMO…shite players on big contracts and big money…and some very dodge signings…
Who would they get in if he was sacked.
?

Trap vindicated.

Retard.

[/quote]jesus hard to see what he would bring to villa…two big of a job for him IMO…they are going to struggle to stay up…can’t see them turn this result around either

Ciaran Clark is a very rash player from what I’ve seen. Prone to diving in recklessly far too often and makes it too easy for attackers.

think Lambert thought that he just needed to motivate the likes of Dunne, Given, Gabby, Bent, Ireland, Nzogbia and supplement these with younger players from the lower leagues and the academy. With the wage bill etc we should have a solid EPL side. McLeish and Houllier were dreadful managers but Lambert is as bad unfortunately and truly struggling. The common factor though is that many of the players arent good enough. That left back he signed from Boro, Joe Bennett is frightfully out of his depth. Enda Stevens even seems better than him. No presence in midfield, no widemen. No quality playmaker (Holman, Ireland, Albrighton just utter shite).

only a few weeks ago it seemed as if the faith in the likes of Clark, Baker, Bannan etc had been truly vindicated at Anfield but that illusion has been well and truly shattered. Vlaar and Dunne being out is not helping. Given is finished and on huge money, ditto Stephen Ireland. These 2 were signed after the MON splurge. As was the 10m man Charles Nzogbia. Darren Bent kept us up a few seasons ago but Lambert doesnt seem to rate him.

Lerner seems to have pulled the plugged since the MON departure. Still paying for MON’s mistakes, 8m signing Stephen Warnock is still drawing a decent wage from the club for example but enough time has passed since to get the club back on a solid footing.

His record with young players is pretty good,in fairness the manager is only as good as the squad he has, anyone who has half an idea about football could manage Barcelona for example!

a suitcase full of clothes and a toothbrush ?..

Very good scumpot…we’re ya thinking long before ya came up with that

Couldn’t see them going for him anyway…Di Canio maybe…
