Probably made a balls out of it but it’s off the top of my head.
I know he’s a bit of a cult hero, but was Diarmuid O’Sullivan not roasted as many times as he played well?
Hardly Pat Horgan?
Solid career on good teams, competition for the full back slot wasn’t fierce but he beat Denis Mulcahy and Seanie O’Gorman, did I forget somebody?
@the_man_himself , Patrick Horgan is a superb hurler and would have walked onto any Cork team. I never saw Seanie O’Leary at his best, there were other contenders for corner forward but Hoggy gets my vote.
You forgot my first name on the sheet anyway.
Who is it, I’ve no doubt I’ve made a few omissions?
Horgan wouldn’t have gotten onto the 76-78 team imo, not with JBM, Charlie McCarthy and O’Leary as competition.
Different era obviously but it is my belief that he would have played somewhere on the forward line, Seanie was obviously a cult hero but was he as good as Horgan, I’d doubt it, JBM would have played in the half forward line.
Then you would have to leave out Tony O’Sullivan or Ben O’Connor which would be madness altogether.
We’re a bit mixed up here, I don’t have JBM in my team at all, he retired after the 86 final but had been on the wane for the last few years even though he was still young, I didn’t pick him in my team.
I meant that between 76 and 78 he could have played wing forward (which he often did) to accommodate Horgan alongside Charlie Mc and Ray Cummins.
No Ray Cummins?
WTF?
I’m 40 years old pal but Ray Cummins retired when I was 7.
No joe Deane?
He was considered but didn’t make the cut, I could only pick him corner forward, I could have picked one of the other corner forwards at 14 and made a spot for Joe but that’s what I went with.
Hennessy was a bit of a hero, I used to go to Cork training to puck the balls back and steal a few and you’d always get a bit of craic out of Hennessy, very good hurler as well and hugely influential in two all Ireland finals.
We’re some county for the short half backs
No Donie Ryan?

Ah you couldn’t have James Ryan on it ahead of conor fitz and Ger Collins , I’ll have a serious think about that team later.
