If only there was some sort of elite multi-national force to defend Europe from Russian aggression

Is Crimea autonomous?

That’s tremendous stuff.

Polish troops apparently being sent to their border with Ukraine.

@balbec - will you be conscripted?

I like John Kerry, but I found this quote rather amusing from a US Secretary of State -

"It’s an incredible act of aggression,” he told CBS. “It is really a stunning, wilful choice by President Putin to invade another country. Russia is in violation of the sovereignty of Ukraine. Russia is in violation of its international obligations.”

the do-gooders . liberals and tree huggers must be absolutely seething that there is a sizable percentage of the Ukranian population who are totally opposed to the whole EU thing and against the “revolution” that took place in Kiev last week, the people living in Crimea, Kharkiv, Dometsk are clearly looking at the state of former Eastern bloc countries who have joined the EU as well as places like Ireland, Greece, Spain, Italy etc and are saying we do in our fuck want to be part of that basket case…

Split the country, let the backward lot return to mother Russia and autocratic rule that they and their peasant ancestors need in order to understand their place in the world. The other half can then turn to the west and freedom and can work 12 hr shifts in factories for relatively ok money to spend on fast food and drugs.

Putin is playing a blinder here, he’s already in Crimea, while the EU were talking about supporting the Government, in order to get him out now they’d need to attack him.

Next he’ll threaten to turn off the gas to Europe and the Germans will be in trouble.

They might offer him the rest of the Ukraine by the time this is finished.

Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany told Mr. Obama by telephone on Sunday that after speaking with Mr. Putin she was not sure he was in touch with reality, people briefed on the call said. “In another world,” she said.

Oh its on…

would you get away with having a pro eu march down o’conell street i wonder, the troika didnt exactly get welcomed with open arms in 2010, do we really want to wish this on the poor ukranians?

+1. First turn off the gas and then have Gazprom withdraw its sponsorship of the Champions league.

No. But I reckon a lot of the Poles would love to go in.

I’d say they could arrange a Polish brigade for the Ukrainian army if it all kicked off

Just send the football hooligans.

Reuters: Ukrainian defence ministry source reportedly says Russian forces have given Ukrainian forces in Crimea until 3am GMT to surrender
