Zlatan - a thread for the former non believers to apologise

Luis Suarez.

What’s this mate?

Even the INTERNET is getting the shits of this particular debate

Time has vindicated Zlatan.

Has there ever been a more dominant or consistent footballer in their 30s than Zlatan? He has been utterly dominant for the last 5 seasons since turning 30 scoring 250 goals for club and country

Yes

Alfredo di Stefano - won a European Cup in 1956 - a few day shy of his 30th birthday. Won it again at 30, 31, 32 and 33 in 1957, 58, 59 & 60. Scored in all five of those finals from 1956-60 rounding it off with a hat-trick in the 1960 final, when he was touching 34. Di Stefano finished as top scorer in La Liga at the ages of 30, 31, 32 & 33 - 1955-56 (24 goals), 1956-57 (31 goals), 1957-58 (19 goals), and 1958-59 (23 goals)

His Real Madrid team-mate Ferenc Puskas scored 4 goals in the 1960 European Cup final at Hampden Park when he was 33. Puskas scored another hat-trick in the 1962 European Cup final when he was 35. Puskas finished as top scorer in La Liga at the ages of 33, 34, 36 & 37 - 1959-60 (25 goals), 1960-61 (28 goals), 1962-63 (26 goals), 1963-64 (21 goals)

Big shout out though to Zlatan for scoring at bottom of the table Sunderland today.

Pretty auspicious company for Zlatan to find himself in. Three greats of the game

Does it not say more about the current state of the game that someone who wasn’t great in their 20’s is considered a great when they’re in their 30’s and past their prime.

you are on fire the last 2 days

I had coffee with a pal on Saturday who works at manyoo.
She says that zlatan is an absolute wanker.
That is all.

Sigh

He wants to join LA Galaxy but Manchester United are begging him to stay for 1 more year.

I seemed to have missed those 7 goals that Zlatan scored in European Cup finals.

Dropped like a boiled shite by united.

Thank fuck.

Now to get back to winning proper competitions with players who don’t need to be indulged.

He was offered a contact before his injury. Delayed signed and got injured. Will remain incredibly carrington till he’s fit again.

He wanted a pay rise, I have it from an impeccable source that he wanted 400 k a week when he may not play til Christmas, and at best was good by utds calculations for 12 games next season.
Fair play to him for trying, but even manyoo, the club that paid for Di Maria balked.

As well off letting him go. United need to build a youthful, pacy side around Pogba who will be the top player in the EPL next season. No room for a 36 year old who slows up the game. For the same reason Rooney has to go, now playing like he’s 36.
