He has even persuaded Babel so score. That deserves credit.
The capitulation to Stoke isn’t that long ago.
Dare to dream, Farmer.
As said from the outset , he will steady the ship I think but I cant see him going any further.
However a win against those manc cunts in the cup could really turn this miserable season around.
Fair enough
Heremaybe where he got it from?
Benitez also sold all but 2 of the CL winning team. That hardly makes much sense now does it?
Had a look at the 2 squads, not massive difference in places, but the 2004 team was definitely stronger.
Throw up the two teams you refer to there Kev and we’ll have gander.
If you are not 100% sure who was involved how can you say that ‘the 2004 team was definitely stronger’?
Lucas set a new premiership record for passes tonight… the Xavi of the PL
Is that true?
I half jokingly remarked to Clarkey that the triangles between himself, Meireles and either of the full backs or wide players were reminiscent of Barca last Monday night.
It could very well be true… I think the main thing here is that Lucas is clearly the driving force behind this resurgence and we should all recognise his genius
It looked like Meireles had made more. Id say his pass completion was higher then Lucas’?
Lucas was top passer in the EPL up to the halfway point of last season and was in the top 5 for tackles also.
He’s in the top 5 for tackles again this season but not sure about his passing. Current top 5 is:
Mikel Chelsea 1090 88%
Ferguson Birmingham 965 84%
Murphy Fulham 932 82%
Song Arsenal 867 87%
Fletcher Man United 833 86%
Simple, i think the team from 04 is stronger. I just threw in the 04-05 team as well in case there was any obvious ones that were bought in between, thought you may know. But instead youdon’t seem to want to discuss it at all. Anyway, you saying it was incredible for him to say it is ridiculous, that was my point. Its something i heard before, and when i googled it the first one up was Hansen saying it as well. For a supposed Liverpool supporter you are a little out of touch are ya?
I don’t really know where to start with this.
How can you say that you think the 04 team is stronger when:
- You don’t even know who was in the team and you are looking for me to help you out
- You thought Xabi Alonso was bought by Houllier
You also seem to place a lot of emphasis on what Alan Hansen has to say. Forgive me, but I don’t consider reading Alan Hansen on a weekly basis to be keeping in touch.
As for me not being willing to discuss it, why would I, when the person who I am discussing it with clearly hasn’t a clue about the subject matter at hand. Why would I waste my time?
I stipulated that i was working from memory when i posted, and what Gray said didn’t sound that “incredible”, and i had heard my own 'Pool friends discuss something similar recently. When i went and looked at it i was coming down on the side of the 04 team. Results for a start were better. I wasn’t 100% who bought Alonso, and when exactly he arrived. Not sure why thats such a big deal, i’m not a Liverpool fan, i knew he came in just before the CL winning team.
I just really didn’t think what Gray said deserved such a reaction. Its not a stretch by any means. And having looked at it, the 04 team looks stronger to me.
But you don’t even know what the 04 team is!!
Gray’s comments were that the team that Hodgson took over was undoubtedly worse than that which Benitez took over. That is complete bollocks. Even a casual look at the two squads would show that Hodgson took over one of the world’s top keepers (Reina), one of the best midfielders/attackers (Gerrard) and one of the top strikers (Torres).
Benitez took over Gerrard and that was about it.
Don’t forget Cinema PingPong, the French wonderkid.
He wasn’t bad in fairness. Better than Le Tallec anyway.
This has gone on too long already, who cares, they are shit now, and they were shit then.
