Dublin will lose to Cork tomorrow but they shouldn’t give a fuck,as things are, Cork need it more. They won’t make a Leinster Final this year but with the luck of the draw they just might make an All-Ireland semi. Certainly, knowing the head on Daly, this is what he’s aiming for. Worse teams then them have made it to All-Irelands finals(eg Limerick) but their focus ought be knocking out any one of Tipp,Galway, Cork or Waterford(no hope v KK) in the championship. This would be Dublin Hurling annexing its right to exist in the big time, do that much and then in their heads at least they’d have earned their right to dine at the top table. Daly knows this and I for one, hope he gets them there.
Sorry to nitpick Laz but Dubin are not better than Limerick. We played decent stuff in 07 and when Dublin got their chance against us last year, when we were there for the taking, they couldn’t beat us. i know its partly a psychological thing for Dublin, taking that step up to beat a “bigger” team but they have to do something this year otherwise they risk losing all the momentum gained last year. i would love to see Dublin succeed, hurling needs more strong counties, i fear they wont bridge that gap however.
Assuming we are talking about hurling here and not the other headlines we’d usually associate with the likes of these townships then I reckon its fair to say your wrong. Dublin are advancing and have hurlers who want to play, Limerick are regressing and have hurlers who don’t want to play, ergo Dublin hurling is in a better off situation than Limerick.
Dublin have slightly superior hurlers to Limerick imo, they have a more consistent first 15.
I wouldn’t disagree much with that. your point was that worse teams than Dublin have reached All Ireland finals in recent years and you cited Limerick as an example. I wouldn’t agree that this Dublin team is better than Limerick circa 07. Dublin couldn’t beat us in 09 when we were struggling. They’ve a long way to travel yet. Need to take some big scalps in Championship to be rated seriously.
