When Limerick used to be competitive at hurling back in the mid 90’s you could get over 20,000 at a league match, especially the ones involving Clare. We’re too shit to have a rivalry with anyone these days.
They used be great games alright. The ones with Tipp used be brilliant as well.
Your bang on there, i’d say he made way last week for that reason alone, or certainly would have asked to play sunday.
Shane O’Neill still stuck at corner back?
John Gardiner back at wing back where he has been shit for years?
Curran still starting?
A top class corner back playing wing back for no reason whatsoever.
Niall McCarthy?!?
Aisake ahead of Cussen???
Funny stuff Kev, funny stuff…
Give us your team so genius to claw back 27 points. Remember now one of the options to oppose Niall Mac is playing U21 football. Thought i’d help you out there.
Brian Murphy would be a superb back in any of the 4 outside positions.
You don’t seem to get a manager’s thinking at all, not showing your full hand, seeing what certain guys will do against top opposition etc.
I agree on Gardiner, but i’d say its about balance and getting experience on the field. But you don’t see that.
And your Curren argument, don’t be a retard, if he’s training hard and fit and focused he’s still one of the best centre backs in the game. He seems to be all of those things so far this year.
But i’d like to see your alternative team.
Any idea of the KK team for this one? Have a sneaking fancy for Cork in this one. KK don’t look to be taking the league that seriously this year(its all about 5 in a row for 2010). Not convinced about Cork’s forwards though. Any sign of Jerry coming back? Would prefer Naughton at wing forward.
It’s getting increasingly impossible to take you seriously on matters regarding hurling. Everyone in the county knows Brian Murphy lacks the hurling for wing back - he excels at stopping other people from playing, he contributes very little beyond that which is fine at corner back but not on the 40. Curran lacks the aggression and pace for number 6 these days, and his distribution has gone to shit because of it, striking the ball hopefully up into the air while he is running backwards, nevermind the fact that even for a center back he is very loose. If you had watched both play against Offaly and Limerick in person you’d notice these problems very clearly.
The worrying thing is that I’m sure Denis Walsh thinks thats close to his championship team, bar Cussen and Sean Og. That lot aren’t going to win a thing, not quite enough scoring up front, out of form players everywhere and a weak center back line.
Regardless, my team would be something like…
Donal Og
Shane Murphy Chris Murphy Brian Murphy
Shane O’Neill Eoin Cadogan Sean Og (if unfit, William Egan)
Gardiner Naughton
Luke O’Farrell Mark O’Sullivan Ben O’Connor
Pa Horgan Cussen Fraggie
There is more scoring (and most importantly, more of a goal threat) in that attack, and the center back line is very strong imo. The full back line probably lacks a touch of speed, and I’d have doubts Gardiner’s mobility in the summer but I like the balance and work rate he gives to midfield, while Kenny and Jerry aren’t exactly excelling there either.
Anyone have money on todays games?
Laois, Clare, Dublin, and Kilkenny offer decent value at 8/1
Laois is the sweetener, they’re going well but away to Antrim is a tough game. Was it last year Wexford were beaten up there? You never know what’s going to happen with the league obviously but having abstained from booze this weekend I feel entitled to throw some money away.
Yes, Wexford were beaten in Belfast last year and it was embarassing to sit through.
Here, check out this tard’s spelling again this week on RTE:

Clare 1-11 to 0-5 ahead in Cusack Park after 25 mins
Brian Murphy hasn’t the hurling and taking Cadogan out of full back is enough for me, your taking out your ass. You also want to put two very inexperienced guys on the half forward line, against a very strong KK line.
Anyone hear what the bad injury was in the Waterford/Limerick game?
Ah yes. This is superb.
Getting exciting down he Pairc.
Just heard it was Tadgh Flynn. A head injury, game was stopped for a while.
Level in Tullamore
Clare four up in Ennis
Limerick beating Waterford by four
Laois beating Antrim by four
Galway beating Tipp by five
All half-time or close to it
1-14 to 1-10 in Ennis - pretty high scoring. Honan has 1-4 apparently, while Jacob has 1-3 for us. Simba Berry’s playing as a third midfielder - being a hunter and gatherer, he will enjoy this role.
Clare should be out of sight my eyes on the ground are telling me. Honan took a point when the goal was at his mercy.
First few scores will be very important, Wexford very much in it.
Grace can have no arguments there. Wrapped a hurley across Brian Murphy’s head. He’s from Inistioge. So you can at least understand where he gets it from.
Limerick and Waterford level @ HT.
Limerick didn’t score for the last 15 minutes of the half.
Shane Murphy got away with a pull though, it was silly. Niall Mac and/or Tommy won’t last the hour.
