2011 BDO World Darts Championship

Flano being schooled by Puke and Bandage

Nobody knows what to do now. Their whole wind up is falling to pieces right before our eyes.

Flano panicking, clutching at straws, making claims of victory.

Rarely have I seen somebody lose their composure in such a dramatic manner.

And it’s all thanks to Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams launching a tungsten tornado at the Lakeside last week.

This is my favourite quote of Bandages regarding the BDO and particularly concerning Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams:

I started watching this at 6-0. I hate that Adams lad. A proven bottler for the last 15 years and somehow he’s world number 1. So I was up for the Nixon chap. Then when it went 6-6 it cuts to his wife (Janice Battersby?) celebrating and there’s some dick in a Rangers jersey dancing around with her. Then I wanted them to both have strokes and the thing to get abandoned.

Good thread, I did NOT contribute to it as I’m not a member of that forum but it’s nice to know that there are other knowledgeable darts fans out there talking sense

Cracking viewing figures for the last weekend at the Lakeside too, sid.

Indeed, over five times higher than the PDC equivalent. The Stars of Darts forum also recorded a record number of people logging on during the Lakeside final. The darting public know the score.

5 times bigger you say…So much for the PDC being box-office

Just goes to show it’s only a small deluded minority, including Dunph and Flano, that graze on Murdoch’s poisoned pastures.

  the general rule of thumb is if it’s exclusive to sky, it’s souless and vacuous and manufactured.

Yeah most people were probably watching the PDC final rather than being on the internet slagging off the BDO final.

Hearn tried to grubbily get Olly Croft to sell out the grassroots for Stg £1m last year but Olly cares, and cares deeply, about the local child that plays in his nearest village hall and the pensioner that throws darts every Wednesday evening in his local British legion club just as much as he cares about the elite players like Martin Adams. He would never sell out darts to Rupert Murdoch and Barry Hearn. Never.

Why are you still doing this?

Still doing what?

Irking me…

I don’t intend to irk; it’s nothing personal. I simply care passionately about the guardianship of darts. We’re only passing through and we need to leave darts in a way that will make our grandchildren proud. Nothing about the PDC would achieve that aim.

Wonderfully gracious words on Deano’s website. Seems like a great guy.

There are twists in every tale, if’s and maybe’s, should I haves? and shouldn’t I haves?

This Lakeside World Championship has been an unforgettable experience, from the first round match right through to the final I have learnt and gained valuable experience both on and off the oche. Every lesson has been conducted in front of thousands of people, millions even. You have shared my mistakes, you have shared my triumphs. I had the reigning world champion on the ropes, shaking and ashen faced he showed his mettle & he took his chance. I congratulate him.

I know, and the darting world knows at which points in the final my dream started to fade, one incident is just part and parcel of modern darts the other was a concious decision Ill have to learn from and put right in the future. A future that starts in Veldhoven, Holland early February…

Thanks for every text message, for every phone call, for every word of advice and for every shout of encouragement.

real darts, real people

Such class from Deano. I expect nothing less.

Wonderful words, Bandage. Under no circumstances will we let the spivs steal the game of darts.
