2014 Club Championships

Tubbercurry won the Sligo football final for first time since 1991, beat favourites St. Mary’s 3-12 to 0-12, three second half goals did it for them, decent enough fare after a fairly poor championship up to now. The hurling final preceded it and was predictably one-sided, Calry have noone to touch them.

The club hurling final in Meath between Kiltale and Trim was close to being the worst sporting event I ever attended. England v Ireland at Wembley, however still remains the worst.

Yeah, the league final was played yesterday. The finalists and the finalists of the shield get a bye to the championship quarters. This weekend was all first round of the championship.

He’s gone now, but it was a good two minutes.
Fairly sure thats the lad you will see at the scoreboard end of O Connor Park, EVERY single time there’s a game on there, whether it involved Offaly or not. Always wearing the jersey. You cant help but notice him. Hail rain or shine.

Hes been in portlaoise the last two years for the galway laois games too. Mmmmm.

Aye, he’s well known for thumbing his way around the country going to matches. A harmless enough sort of buck.

McDonagh’s his name. Harmless poor chap from Tullamore. Not playing with the full deck.

Was Touhy playing for portlaois recently?

Sheehan didn’t play for eire og either and I believe Carlton yhave blocked their 3 Irish players from the international rules to go back training. What kind of a date ckhead is malthouse?

Get the feeling the Aussies are incredibly up for this game and will go out to batter Ireland and will end the series after. I would guess if I’m reading this right that the Irish lads at Carlton have been pulled deliberately. Aussies talking a real hard show anyway and have picked the best team in 10 years. Could be a bruiser, how physical are Ireland looking?

KK senior Q-final draw
Lixnaw won the kerry hurling inspite of not scoring in the second half in what were I’m told ideal conditions.
1-12 to 4 @ halftime but finished 1-12 to 12. Kilmoyley hit 14 wides with some very wasteful stuff in the second half in particular
ideal conditions Julio alrite

Enda Galvin wreaked havoc in the Kilmoyley defence first half hitting 3 great points and making a few more. Paul Galvin and Griffin got on top in midfield 10 mins into the 1st half and also caused havoc for the rest of the half. Kilmoyley couldnt stop the rout at all in this period. If they made any shape at all to stop the rout at all at this stage, they would have reeled Lixnaw in the 2nd half. Left themselves too much to do.

TOMÁS Ó SÉ will be confirmed as a Nemo Rangers player in the next 24 hours as his pending transfer to the southside club is nearing completion.
Ó Sé, a Broadale resident and teacher at Gaelscoil de hÍde, Fermoy, will join up with Nemo for the 2015 campaign.
The ex-Kerry defender, a five-time All-Ireland SFC winner, is now 36 however, his experience and steely demeanour will add a new dimension to Steven O’Brien’s charges.
O’Brien, incidentally, will remain in charge of the side despite outsiders’ question marks over his future following Nemo’s Cork County SFC semi-final loss to Ballincollig.
Ó Sé’s transfer to Nemo was originally put to Cork County Board last week with the process expected to be completed, at the very latest, by tomorrow, as club secretary Bernadette Allen exclusively revealed to the Evening Echo.
“I can confirm that Tomás Ó Sé’s transfer forms have been put through to Cork County Board and he will be a Nemo Rangers player, hopefully by tomorrow afternoon latest, provided there are no late hiccups which shouldn’t be the case,” Allen stated.
“There is obviously a process when it comes to these things and all parties involved are very much respected by our club but his transfer forms have gone to our county board.
“This usually takes around seven days and should be through, maybe today, but certainly by tomorrow.
“Tomás will be a huge addition to our club and his experience will be invaluable.”
A host of clubs around the city and county including the likes of Douglas and St Finbarr’s have tried to acquire Ó Sé’s services in the past.
However, O’Brien will be extremely pleased Ó Sé will be soldiering in Nemo colours next season.
The RTÉ Sunday Game pundit may have been out of the game for a while – the former An Ghaeltacht operator has seen very little top-level competitive action in the last 12 months – but his qualities are far from questionable.
He has been an integral part of Kerry sides that have tormented Cork on many occasions throughout his illustrious inter-county career.
Yet, his presence in the Nemo rearguard will be welcomed around Capwell and Trabeg.
Allen added: “The transfer was originally touted just before we played Ballincollig in the county semi-final.
“We were conscious though of taking from the focus of our players for that game so have kept this under wraps.
“We still have a Kelleher Shield semi-final against O’Donovan Rossa on Sunday to come so our current season is not over yet.
“Looking ahead, though, Tomás will bring his qualities to bear, hopefully, and we will be delighted to welcome him,” she added.

Is O’Se getting involved with UCC?

Final I think.

Clontibret and Kilcoo this weekend should be a very good tussle. Winners will likely play Galls in quarters.

Armagh, Derry and Antrim finals this weekend.

QF draw is

Antrim v Kilcoo/Clontibret
Donegal v Roslea
Omagh v Armagh
Derry v Cavan Gaels
