Is been too long coming

Commiserations to former Wexford managers Paul Bealin and Jason Ryan for steering Westmeath and Kildare respectively to relegation.

Jason Ryan and Kieran McGeeneys stars continue to rise

How do we see the games going today?

Think Derry will take Mayo, you could probably say that 1-9 Mayo are the best team in the country but they have some really average forwards, including Cillian O’Connor who is hugely overrated. Derry are going along well and have the better forwards so if they can manage a decent showing in midfield then they will win.

I’d also expect Dublin to ease past Cork, the only Cork game I saw this year was when we drew with them in Cork and they weren’t at all impressive, Tyrone fully deserved to win that game. Dublin aren’t playing at all well but do have a good depth of talent and ability to grind results out. They have serious problems in the middle of the pitch from what I can see though - maybe that stems from Cluxton being absent but they were cleaned out by Tyrone in this sector in their last outing and this is arguably Tyrone’s weakest sector. McAuley has also been getting away with murder, figuratively speaking, in this league campaign. He is a foul machine and doesn’t seem to be able to tackle correctly at all. While Cork have topped the league and got a few impressive results I think they’ve had a very kind league campaign, 4 home fixtures which included bringing Tyrone and Derry all the way down to Cork and the relatively short trip to a dead rubber in Tralee. I also believe they are lacking a bit of mental toughness and won’t be able to curtail Dublin when they up their game in the second half.

Not bad, you only mentioned Tyrone 4 times.

Best of luck to Derry also.

What’ll be in Croker today, 22k with 2k being split between Cork and Derry?

Would expect Derry would bring 3 or 4k along with them. Not many of the Ballinderry boys on the Derry panel, I know a lot of their key men are the wrong side of 30 but would still expect the likes of Wilkinson and Devlin to be involved.

Martin McGuinness and Enda Kenny are seated beside each other at Croke Park today.

Goal for Derry.

Lynch tears through the middle and O’Boyle is teed up and he finishes very well.

1-03 to 0-04

Lynn is causing Keegan all sorts of trouble.

Goal for Mayo.

Mayo lead by a point. Fergal Doherty has been sent off.

Mark Lynch is a fantastic player.

Enda Lynn has also been magnificent so far.

Should that not have been a black card as opposed to a yellow?

Derry lead by 1 at half time. Lynn and Lynch are destroying Mayo’s half back line, Derry have been really good and their defence has been on top of Mayo’s forwards - you would expect Derry to tire more as the game goes on given Mayo’s numerical advantage.

Derry have played well, impressive enough although I think the big pitch will get to them as the game goes on. Ulster yet again will be the best provincial championship and I hate to say it but I think Tyrone will probably win it.

Tyrone have a nightmare path to winning Ulster.

Down in the prelim, Monaghan in the quarters, Armagh/Cavan in the semi and Donegal/Derry in the final. I think winning the All Ireland is far more likely through the backdoor route for Tyrone. Still the Ulster Championship is the biggest prize in GAA.

There is very little between Derry, Donegal, Monaghan and Tyrone and all would be in the top 8 teams in the country right now.
