Bad miss by Murphy, time running for Donegal.
Kerry seem to have a good squad now.
In recent times i have noticed they are Better without Moran
Beyond woeful today.
Jesus surely Sheehan was MOTM
Gooch
I donât think it could be over stated the skill level of that score.
Outstanding oerformance from Eddie there, not many could have handled that game as well as the Courtwood man.
McGee can have no complaints about his puck in the snout either, he knows the score. Only shame was he didnât get a few more, fair play to Fitzgerald.
Cracking game in Pearse Stadium in conditions of the deepest wintriness.
The proverbial game of two halves - almost.
Meath blew Galway away in the first half to lead 1-8 to 0-2 but Galway lorded it in the second half to go 0-15 to 1-9 ahead.
Meath, incredibly, then roused themselves to score three points in successive attacks to level it.
The four minutes of injury time failed to produce a score and the points were shared.
Really strong display of fundamental football skills there when up against it by Kerry, bar Goochâs loose kick that led to the goal hard to think of an obvious unforced error.
Two incredibly inconsistent teams. Delightfully so.
Laois had the snot kicked out of them by Tomas Corrigan today in Brewster. A bizarre team set up by the Clareman manager was ripped apart by legend Pete McGraths outfit.
Huge win for Mayoâs new management team up in Clones today, Nembo wonât be pleased to hear this.
And as suspected by most on here apart from @thedancingbaby, Roscommon made Down their bitches in the Pearse.
The Rossies are coming.
A poor shout by me for sure
Galway are very slow starters. Thatâs the second home match now where theyâve only started playing when they were way behind. They didnât seem to have any sort of plan at all to work the ball upfield in the first half.
But they have the ability to come back and dominate a game when itâs getting away from them. Paul Conroy, Tom Flynn, Gary Sice and Gary OâDonnell are excellent leaders. Conroy was immense in the second half. They came back without Damien Comer who had been laughably black carded for tripping Mickey Burke right on the stroke of half-time - (Meath also had Donal Keogan black carded early on which also looked to be a ridiculous decision by referee Conor Lane).
They have the bones of an excellent team there - theyâve been improving incrementally over the last three years and Iâd expect that to continue this year. They have a lot of scoring power in Comer, Shane Walsh, Danny Cummins and Adrian Varley and Eddie Hoare is a reliable free taker. Declan Kyne and Eoghan Kerrin (went off injured early on today but had an excellent match against Tyrone) are fine young defenders.
Meath have a lot of talent but few leaders. Theyâre good when the game is going for them as it was in the first half. Really only Graham Reilly and perhaps Eamonn Wallace stood up for them. Wallace got a few beauties from way out on the right wing, top drawer points. The rest just went into their shell completely when Galway started to apply some pressure in the second half - the opposite of Meath teams of the past. I wouldnât be backing them to do well in the championship - theyâre far too flaky and arenât able to hold a lead at all. Good character out of them to pull a draw out of the bag nevertheless - Galway looked to have the game won all ends up, maybe they thought that themselves.
It was a pleasure to see Mickey Burke marking Damien Comer - who says there are no characters in the game these days?
I would say Div 1 now looks to be a straight battle between Monaghan, Mayo, Kerry and Cork to avoid the second relegation spot.
When you factor in that Cork and Mayo both have Down to come then that puts them all on 4 points. If Cork fail to beat Monaghan next week then they are in serious bother with the scoring differential. They would effectively be in the position of needing two wins from two in their final games and needing to paste Down in the process (not the most difficult objective however).
Tyrone have all but secured promotion now, itâs just a question of who will join them. Cavan seem to be flying at the minute, two extremely impressive results on the bounce for them now and they were only just edged out by Tyrone and Derry in their previous games. The game with Galway will have a huge say over who goes up with Derry also still in the hunt.
The most worrying aspect would be that only one Cross player is available to McGeeney right now. Morgan is after taking the season out to undergo surgery on his hand, something definitely seems to be off in the camp there.
Ignoring the Cross contingent you also have Harold, C Rafferty, D McKenna, Geoghegan all making themselves unavailable this year too.
Youâd have at least 10 Cross players worthy of a place in the squad so only having one commit for the year is a shocking return.
Armagh still have a few important players to return in guys like Dyas, McKeever, Donaghy and Grugan and if they get these lads back and on form then they are capable of much more but it looks pretty bleak at present.
Did Shane Walsh play? Is he back now as a regular starter? He has had an interrupted two years with injuries but back in 2013-14 he looked like a huge star.
Yes. No. 13. He scored at least two points in the second half.
This doesnât look good for McGee.
An act of thuggery.
