2016 Allianz National Football League

Is that dog chewing your slippers you cranky oul bollox?

That doesn’t make any sense. Blaming the Roscommon team of 2016 for all of the failings of the county of the last 36 years. Only 4 of yesterday’s Roscommon starting team have ever played a senior Championship match in Croke Park, the 2010 quarter final defeat to a Cork side who went on to win the All Ireland - Geoffrey Claffey, Sean McDermott, Sean Purcell and Cathal Cregg.

By my reckoning Roscommon have only played 5 championship matches in Croke Park since narrowly losing the 1980 All Ireland Final to Kerry. They lost out to eventual All Ireland winners Cork in 1990 and 2010, very unluckily to Meath by 1 point in the 1991 semi final, a 5 point quarter final defeat to Kerry in 2003 and a 4 point 4th round qualifier loss to Dublin in 2004.

The fact that they’ve only played 5 Championship games in Croke Park in that time says it all.

Indeed it does and its good of you to concede that. Roscommon as a county has been blighted for a few generations now by the ravaging effects of rural depopulation, unemployment and mass emigration.

A great word.

You left out parochial bitterness, naked pool players and a fondness for porter and infighting. Oh! And loads of headcases to boot.

But shur that’s every rural county outside the big 4. Meath were cunts for that prior to Boylan by their own admission for example.

Nowt wrong with it either.

Roscommon is a county I have a lot of time for. They’re a mad lot, but at the same time don’t seem to take themselves too seriously either.

Roscommon are by some distance the county with the smallest population to win a senior All Ireland in either hurling or football. It doesn’t help matters when out of a population of 64,000, a good sized town in Ballaghaderreen is out of bounds for Roscommon football and at the other end of the county Westmeath are attempting a similar land grab of Clan na Gael and St Brigids.

The days of counties like Roscommon, Cavan and Offaly with populations of less than 100,000 are just an historical footnote now.

Looks like Paddy Andrews will get another day out roasting Fionn Fitz.

Kerry will walk the AI. They have more options than ever.

Don’t forget ‘hunger’. Nothing is more important in the GAA than ‘hunger’.

Anthony Maher and James O Donoghue also to return there

Yerra.

Dublin should put Mick Fitzsimons at 11 just for this.

Clare in action tommorow

Nonsence. Dublin are the team with more options fb aside, they have them all over and its obviously dowm to that sf game. And they wouldnt get caught in a final, kerry could

They have lots of options in the full back line but they are all varying degrees of shit.

Dublin will quite rightly be the favourites for the AI. They have the best team and the greater advantages.

Kerry are looking in good shape but I think they have serious problems when it comes to Dublin, both in style and also psychological terms. Dublin are their new Tyrone. Kerry are probably the second best team in the country at the minute after Dublin but both Tyrone and Mayo are better suited to taking Dublin, IMO.

Not sure if serious.

Mayo beat Dublin in 2012 and they shared a draw last year.

Kerry have lost all their meetings with Dublin in Championship football this decade.
