2016 Allianz National Hurling League

They came back into it in the second half when Joe Canning went out to midfield.

Not far left to go @macā€¦

Sure why do you think they got rid of Cunningham?

This will be a glorious victory for us when Joe leads Galway to All Ireland glory from centre back. We will be Gods.

The tussle between Canning and Andrew Shore in Croker in September will be the stuff of dreams alright

@Midshipman_Asha, @Locke, @Piles_Hussain and other kk posters.
How did Galway look yesterday?
Iā€™d be grateful for an honest opinion.
How good or otherwise were kk?

Didnā€™t see the game at all and no reports back from the fatherland yet. Iā€™ll send on anything I get onto the KK PM board we have set up

My parents were at it. They said Joe Canning was very good.

Looks to be in very good shape

Was it their first time seeing him play or something?

Only got a quick rundown off the brother which went as follows:

  • KK Backs were very good, Walsh and Buckley on the wings are terrific. Itā€™s nearly like when we had Tommy and JJ there and didnā€™t give a fuck who was centre back
  • Conor Fogarty motm, immense performance
  • James Maher another good game
  • Kevin Kelly not as good as against chipp
  • Richie Hogan had a stinker
  • Galway were at nothing until Canning went out the centre
  • even when they got it back to a point or two, there wasnā€™t any feeling that it might slip
  • the enigma that is Colin Fennelly endures
  • Galway, who the fuck knows

Figured as much. Thanks.

I was answering the question asked. He was the only Galway player they mentioned. Otherwise they had similar opinions to Pilesā€™ brother with conor fogarty the pick of them with Padraig Walsh not far behind.,

Cork are so terrible its not even a joke now.

Their ā€œtraining planā€ excuses are a bit shaky to say the least. Considering they are adding to the injury list every session its all very suspect.

Nobody seems to know what they are doing or what their role is.

Fairly clear JBM wrung as much as he could out of that team. Whatever criticism he got re tactics Cork hurling was always crisp under him and players could move. Now they have lost that striking ability and players look flat.

I thought new management would have a game plan but they donā€™t seem to. Puck outs to corner backs who cannot strike the ball, trying a running game without the players to implement it. The efforts to work the ball forward in Croke Park were awful. defence stood way off

Good chance they will go whole year without winning a game. Ellis has broken his hand and may need an operation which could rule him out for their season

Not sure where they go from here but they have gone way back this year from last year.

I would start by dropping Nash.

I agree with all of this and I think Colin Fennelly definitely improved on the last two games but he seems not to have enough confidence to try for his own scores or chooses the wrong option.
Three times he had goal chances, one he passed off to Richie Hogan who pulled on it first time and mishit ( it would have been spectacular had he pulled it off), another he sort of ran over himself and a third he hit straight at the keeper.

Galway were not in the game at all in the first half and KKshould have been out of sight but they barely showed up for the first part of the second half (normally the stretch when they put teams away) and Galway came back into it. Joe Canning was very good when he went to midfield and Galway scored from out the field.

Padraig Walsh has played well in all three of the league matches, Iā€™d have had him as Man of the Match yesterday, Conor Fogarty hadnā€™t been great in either of the other matches so him playing well is good ,
TJ scored about 14 points yesterday, 5 from play- James Maher scored two points and knows how to work hard and scrap, Richie Hogan is not in form at the minute but heā€™ll probably find it, I had to look for Kevin Kelly and John Joe Farrell was worse.
Jackie Tyrrell is obviously not at the level he used to be but apart from three fumbled catches early on, he didnā€™t stand out as being awful.
They must see him playing some part or they would have told him and let him retire on his own terms.

Sorry, I didnā€™t have much to say about Galway but I was only paying attention to Kk really and the match was not a good one.

Ya their hurling is awful. They keep saying have not done much, but why? The game is hurling.

Its the most inexperienced management team ever iā€™d say and its showing.

Injuries piling up as they have a lack of preperation.

Fairly reasonable that the management team would be looking sharply at the teams physical preparation considering how WD ran them off the field last year.

Galway & Tipperary have obviously bulked up to contend with KK which in reality causes some issues on a teams hurling but a certain physical standard must be met too.

I wouldnā€™t fear too much about Cork yet.

I thought Tipperary were huge yesterday by comparison to Wd. Certainly early in the game size told as Waterford got bottled up a lot and gave away a lot of frees for over carrying. In the end though the bit of pace we have won the day.

They are not doing it right. I know that all along, but whatever about the S&C the hurling is fucked. No plan, players acting the moron.

You only get a certain amount of games. Its very naive.

TUM - Nash is a gobshite. Hugely negative effect on team.
