17 wides the killer. Forwards hitting wides under pressure can be forgiven, an off day for free takers can be forgiven.
But, half backs & midfielders taking Hail Mary efforts would drive a man demented. Bergin when introduced hit 2 poor wides as did Paudie before he got one. It was obvious our FF could do well with decent supply.
Lack of real goal chances is worrying also, we donât win too many games w/o scoring a couple.
All that said, itâs only the League & management can get ruthless now as there are better options in different positions than other years. Get P Stapleton & Cahill fit and hopefully we can shore up the FB line.
It looked for all the world that Shanaghan was going for that corner, he just went too early. TBF he was on a hiding to nothing anyway with a fella getting to the edge of the small square and batting the ball like that.
Agree, he wasnât going to save it standing in the middle so he took a chance and looks stupid as a result. Probably should have just ran out and tried to put pressure on the player but wouldnât be too critical of him as not many goalies would do that
Thought the Tipp keeper had a solid game, did well to stop a Tots shot going over the bar and has a serious strike of a ball. His puck outs were decent
Also thinking back about it. Bringing on Stephen OâBrien for his debut in injury time replacing Bubbles was a terrible call by Ryan today as well. He got on one ball in a bit of space and fumbled it and allowed Clare to clear. OâDwyer would surely have been more composed and would also have slotted that late free you feel.
But you would rather see these lads stopping scores than driving harmless wides. Shooting in general & high wide counts in all the league games were a killer.
