Not a lot more to say really - thankfully as I can barely type with the shakes . I felt immediately afterwards that Mayo left it behind them and we were steeped. I genuinely thought we were goosed, but there really has to be something about this curse business.
Although in saying that, you make your own luck and I donât believe this Dublin team know how to lose. Which is lucky for Jim, because he made a huge tactical errror starting OâGara
For me, Mayo were the second best team yesterday, especially when it mattered. They hammered Dublin in the first half and owned the ball but only went in a point up and had some terrible wides. Not scoring when hammering Dublin has been probably the greatest flaw they have had over the last few years.
Once Dublin managed to get possession in the second half they looked much more in control. You could feel them grinding down MAyo and getting their scores easier. Yes Mayo went ahead again but but the ease and calm with which Dublin reeled them back in was clear.
Itâs okk to feel sorry for Mayo, everyone does, but elevating them to shoulda/woulda/coulda champions is silly.
Look mate, Dublin should have had OâGara sent off and a penalty awarded against them. They didnât win the game, the ref stole it from mayo. Great to get the three in a row all the same, but I wouldnât be crowing too much about a team with that wealth of talent having to rely on crooked officials to get them over the line. If I were a Dublin supporter I would be keeping quiet about the whole sordid affair.
