2017 All Ireland Senior Football Championship, Dublin's continued exploitation of its natural advantages

As was the sideline ball they got moments beforehand which led to the free

Arguably you could say its psychological.

And maybe there is an element.

But i think its heavily technical. He changes his style too much from hands to off the ground. Thats one major flaw. Also though is his projectory. Either he change or they get another free taker.

I think Rochford is fantastic, he arguably won the battle on the line (Gavin just has better players and got lucky 2 bad calls did not kill them).
But its very poor of them, especially at that level, to be so reliant on one free taker or i deed not to have ironed out serious flaws in one part.

Best free takers can adjust their ball flight and curl. He fails at that a fair bit, especially in past 2-3 years. Previous to that i remember him being better.

Frees are reasonably easy to practice. And i believe practicing frees is 1.01 closed drill of working on your angles fo shooting even from play. I believe there is some transfer.

So even for the craic of it i get everyone practicing frees sometimes. You’d be amazed who turns up as good quickly.

But at IC plenty of those lads should have it mastered quickly.

Should have been 10-11 mins in total played extra

And then there may be over compensation.

That would make sense technically bow that you say it.

Ya. My auld lad, which was great to see his passion and anger back btw, was going fucking mental even before COC took that 1st half one from the hands. “I fucking hate this shit, put it on the ground, everyone knows thats more accurate” or words to that effect.

He duly kicked it wide.

It wasn’t too different to Rocks. I never had a doubt of Rock scoring to be honest

That sort of extra time really only benefits the team with the stronger bench.

I can.

Dublin have ridiculous composure and balls. Its being grossly underestimated.

Its been called on nearly every year as well. Mayo make them look human. But they keep fucking winning.

Not Mayo as a team, but vaughan was bottling it for me. COC made a few rash attempts as well that i felt were not in his general play notmally. Could be argued thats bottling. AOS went for a hail mary that was not on. Dublin don’t do that.

Their consistancy makes them great.

Liverpool won Euro Cups on penalties. Does that not make the 80’s team great.

The Cork team of 2010 and before could have been at least very remembered if not great. They had a ridiculous squad at the time. But they lacked the hunger and drive to do what Kerry or Dublin do. So nowhere near great. Armagh the same.

I think Mayo are a great team too as it happens. I think there is hardly a team i history to get as much out of themselves. Ever.

Sorry kev, but your last paragraph is utter horse shit.

Why?

I thought they were very poorly coached.

The quality of player was significant

A forward line pretty superior to mayos for instance

Fair enough. I disagree. I have doubts whether Dublin come through those games without getting the benefit of some big calls, wrong calls. When those calls go against them and they still won I will buy into the view that they are one of the greatest teams.

That Cork team was the worst football team to watch of all time and were poxed to win an all Ireland. Talk about fistyball. Horrendous.

Using the most obvious comparative in the same sport - the Kerry team of 1975-86 won their 8 All Ireland Finals by margins of 7, 17, 11, 3, 7, 5, 4 & 8 and won nearly all their Munster Finals and semi finals by comparative margins.

Dublin have won 4 finals by 1 point (one of those in a replay) and the 5th by 3 points.

I’d still take Eoin Liston over Eoghan O’Gara, Mikey Sheehy over Paddy Andrews, Ger Power over Dean Rock and Jack O’Shea over Brian Fenton.

Pat Spillane produced his best performances in All Ireland finals. I’m struggling to recall anything particularly noteworthy Ciaran Kilkenny has done in 4 finals, actually 5 with last year’s draw and replay.

As i said, they were poorly coached.

They played with the handbreak on the entire time.

We got full view of it when Healy got the big job.

And i agree, they were not great to watch. Hugely frustrating.

That might be because the oplosition know his value.

Nobody marked up differently back in Kerrys days.

Kilkenny held Keegan to one goal yesterday. That’s pretty impressive. And Keegan was utterly bolloxed at the end. sure his gps says he didn’t move for the last 3 mins.

What does Ciaran Kilkenny actually do apart from run laterally and hand pass the ball? He’s a real media darling.

He was atrocious in the first match last year.

One of the most overrated players in history.

Ah ffs.

Talk about not understanding modern football

Seriously though his job is very easily replicated. He’s a drone basically, albeit a very athletic one.

yep, he is woeful
