When Mayo went 2 points up with 7 minutes to go, Dublin outscored them 4-1 in the remaining 15 minutes or so of overall game time. They also had the wherewithall to systimatically foul on the last kick out too. Whether or not people want to use that as a positive or negative, but they know how to win at all costs. Mayo didnt. It was Mayo who changed Dublins kick out strategy too, as alluded to many times by @Appendage on the game day postings.
Had Aidan OâShea not dived last year or Conor Loftusâs shot had been slightly higher this year, he probably wouldnât be in a job.
I find it hard to square that Mayo team with the one in Croke Park in the later stages of the Championship.
Anyone know how Senan Connell got home last night/this morning?
Ifs, buts, etc. His and Mayoâs entire set up has been aimed at All Ireland Sunday the past two years. I cant even imagine how soul destroying its been. But I firmly believe theyâll be back, theyâre an amazing group of players, a wonderful reflection of humanity and all our fallibilities. Mayo people are lucky to have them represent them.
Playing AOS full back against Kerry is what really cost them this year.
One of the Dublin teamâs official chauffeurs dropped him home.
It gave us a wonderful viewing of the sacrifice of one for the good of THE many
AIG sponsored?
The Dubs dont go home from Coppers, although I doubt Senan has the same privileges there heâs had in the past.
Paddy Andrews didnât shake hands with Cillian OâConnor before the match.
I wonder if there is anything in this. Arenât they both DCU alumni?
The Keegan penalty incident. Jesus. McQuillan saved Dublin there. I said to the Mayo man beside me at the time that it should have been a penalty. It definitely should have been.
There was a foul outside the box.
It clearly continued inside the box.
Is the free not given for the initial challenge?
its when he blows the whistle
McQuillan played advantage.
Another foul occurred which was a penalty.
Thus, it has to be a penalty.
Do you know what advantage means?
Which was inside the box, mate.
No, he played advantage which allows 5 second after which he can bring it back should no advantage prevail.
Advantage clearly prevailed in those 5 seconds but bizarrely he still brought it back.
Mayo were clearly cheated in this instance.
I thought McQuillan blew for the first contact.
