2018 All Ireland Senior Football Championship

Teams are either subject to home advantage or they are not. The whole “venues are subject to approval from the CCCC” is just arse covering.

If it was Kildare v Clare would the game be on in Newbridge? Yes. Should be no different whoever the opposition is. Kildare want to give themselves the best chance to progress, they can play it wherever they like. Not up to them to facilitate thousands of marauding Mayo muck savages.

Games have often been moved thanks to the arse covering and this is no different.

Kildare can get the fuck over it. I didn’t see them backing other counties that lost it over the years.

Kildare could really do with this man now

It mentions Team 1, Team 2, Team 3 and Team 4. It mentions no other teams.

That makes no sense other than in the context of the Super 8s.

There are eight teams involved in Round 3 of the qualifiers.

Team 1 and Team 2 are the provincial champions and provincial champions have home advantage on matchday 3 of the Super 8s

@croppy_boy is reeling here

Team 1 are the first team out, team 2 are the second team out.

It’s not that difficult to understand.

It makes no sense in the context of Round 3 of the qualifiers.

It makes perfect sense in the context of the Super 8s.

Kildare have shot themselves in the foot here.

GAA insists Kildare will forfeit Mayo qualifier if they don’t play at Croke Park (via @IrishTimes) https://www.irishtimes.com/sport/gaelic-games/gaelic-football/gaa-insists-kildare-will-forfeit-mayo-qualifier-if-they-don-t-play-at-croke-park-1.3543393

That looks very bad for the GAA.

Kildare are dead right.

Mayo should row in and just agree to play the game in Newbridge. They’ve already won well there this year so it should hold no fears for them.

The GAA deserve everything they get on this one.

It would be hilarious to see the championship schedule thrown into chaos - if this game goes ahead, say, next weekend rather than this weekend, the Super 8s can’t start on the scheduled weekend.

It would be great craic.

What that CCCC boyo said applies to any sold out game in the country. Cancel the AI Finals! Safety concerns!

This has nothing to do with Mayo, and all to do with Kildare CB and Croke Park. Kildare are playing a dangerous game here that wont work out well for them.

I think we need lawyers involved to sort this out. Maybe High Court injunction proceedings.

where is the health and safety issue?
this is ridiculous
capacity is 9k
so all ticket per the gah its 9k with a 10% redux
make it an 8100 all ticket game, there is no health and safety issue
the gah will fall on their own sword here

Only if you can’t actually count.

This is what Waterford should have done. How many turned up to there game in Limerick against Tipperary anyway? Just over 10k, wasn’t it?

What kind of organisation thinks playing games in quarter-full stadiums with vast swathes of empty seats and terraces makes a better “product” than a sold out game in a small stadium?

Well, the GAA, obviously.

How so?

great post,
seriously

Team 1 = first team drawn out, Team 2 = second team drawn out. etc, etc.

yeah and leave them with their 4pm stand alone fixture in croke park with maybe 7000 people watching cavan and tyrone this saturday… exclusively live and clashing with the WC second round on sky sports
im not sure how this works out for the gah
