Because the requirements of grounds can vary wildly depending on the teams in a fixture and even the fortunes of those teams.
A few sell-out games will do the association no harm whatsoever.

Everyone wants to go to Carrick job done
Every county in Ireland has a ground which is capable of hosting provincial championship matches up to at least quarter-final stage at minimum, usually provincial semi-final, and qualifiers. The only grounds which might not be up to standard for a provincial semi-final are some of the ones in Leinster like Aughrim and Drogheda.
Donegal v Down was another match that could have had a better fit as regards venue. 12k is lost in Clones but you would have packed out Ballybofey or Newry for it.
Tyrone v Monaghan was another one I forgot to mention where the venue fit the attendance and made for a smashing atmosphere.
Will the GAA give Laois GAA a grant next year for some stem cell research to enable them to grow a backbone?
Iād love to go, unfortunately Iāll be in South America visiting Ewan.
It will be a great day.
Some GAA analysts have been going on for years about the need to remove some of the powers of county managers but now we have them dictating where games are played. 8000 Mayo fans travelled to Limerick, 10000 to Thurles last week and probably a maximum of 3000 will now be in Newbridge for what could be the final ever appearance in the green and red for some of their greatest servants. GAA clearly donāt care about fans Joe, tis all about having full grounds for the Sky cameras Joe.
You forgot Parnell Park
i) Because itās a reward for getting to a provincial final
ii) Because neutral venues at Round 4 games generally make for poor crowds and shit atmospheres.
The GAA actually experimented with home venues for one team in Round 4 in 2006 and it worked well in terms of attendances. Fermanagh played Donegal in Enniskillen and Kerry played Longford in Killarney. I donāt know why they discontinued this practice.
Fuck off with your shit and take your head out of your ass
Overstating the number of travelling supporters is a great GAA cliche.
But going through the qualifiers is a much thougher path than reaching a Leinster or Munster final.
Roscommon beat Leitrim to get to a last 12 game this year. Why should they be rewarded with home advantage?
Luck of the draw, mate.
What if theyād beaten Mayo and Galway and then lost the final to Sligo?
So have Dublin
Well shouldnāt the R4 stick to luck of the draw and not predetermined sides who get home advantage?
Mayo expect all their season ticket holders to get a ticket for Saturday
They could do that, but why should, say, Fermanagh forfeit home advantage for their Round 4 qualifier having got past Armagh and Monaghan to reach the Ulster final?
Thatās about 3000 tickets I think. To be fair they have a long waiting list for season tickets as well, itās not a case of āif you want to go to the game why didnāt you buy a season ticketā. Had the game gone ahead in Croke Park without the controversy there would probably have been 15000 at it from Mayo alone.
Thatās some shameful shit right there.
You sit in the stand and stand in the terrace.
Unless itās a terraced stand. Then you stand.
