2021 All Ireland Football-Covid is a cod tyrone style

You clearly arenā€™t familiar with Kieran Duff.

Thatā€™s an interesting discussion point.

from a Gaelic Football perspective, the players I remember getting the most grief from pundits etc, for cynical behaviour would be the likes of Paul Galvin, Matty Forde, Diarmuid Connolly, Tiernan McCann.

For teams it would have to be Tyrone 2011-2020, Dublin 1980s, Donegal 2010-11, Meath 1987-1996.

Teams and players that were more or less given a free pass were Dublin 2011-2020 (Des Cahill and Whelan swifty killed any criticism on TSG), Kerry 2009-2015, Mayo 2015-2020.

Thatā€™s only off the top pf my head. By no means a definitive list.

Sure Johnny Coopers red card was discussed before he ever set foot on pitch for 2019 final ā€¦ fait accompliā€¦ the media gave the week wondering would gough be strong enough to call out the dubs ā€¦ he folded like an accordion ā€¦

The most cynical displays I ever saw were from Kerry against Limerick in 04. Just non-stop fouling

Why are you still going on about AOS?

The point was your county have a wonderful team that everyone is praising from start to finish. Thatā€™s the story here.

Why canā€™t you accept everyone praising Tyrone?

Was also great to see the fielding of an overhead ball be a pivotal part of key scores.

Why?

I wonder did James Horan ever think of putting Aidan Oā€™Shea marking Cathal McShane once McShane came on in the same way Oā€™Shea marked Donaghy in 2017.

The really bad look for Horan is how similar the two Tyrone goals were to Dublinā€™s two goals in 2013.

I do generally. Final wasnā€™t on BBC.

Why are you so angry at pointing out the anti-northern RTE agenda that is obvious.

I was at one of the Munster finals in the Gaelic Grounds, must have been 2004. Doesnā€™t stand out to me to be honest.

However Iā€™m sure it must have happened cos thereā€™s no way Limerick would feel aggrieved like that in a tight loss

Armagh got serious criticism as well during that period.

I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever seen Kerry get criticised for being cynical on RTE when they are guilty of it.

When Kerry or Dublin or Mayo do itā€™s streetwise, when Tyrone do it then itā€™s dark arts and cynicism.

No team gets the rub of the green against Kerry when it comes to refereeing displays. Maurice Deegan is so starstruck every time he gets one of their games.

And them crying about big bad dirty Tyrone a year later.

Not as a team but Galvin came in for some amount of stick when most of the wing forwards in the country were doing similar shit to him at the time.

The biggest free pass Iā€™ve seen given to a player is probably Kieran Donaghy and for a team it would be the shite that Kerry did against Mayo in the replay in the 2014 semi final replay.

Offaly 1982
Cork 1999
Down 2010
Dublin 2011
Dublin 2016
Dublin 2019

I donā€™t think Galvin came in for much unfair stick really. He was a hot head and had problems with his discipline, he was letting his team down more than anything. Much like Connolly though I had much more sympathy for Connolly as you feel he was targeted by teams much more in this regard.

Oooft

Sure Gough did all he could possibly do for Kerry in 2019. He sent Cooper off innocuosly then refused to send Tom Oā€™Sullivan off later on for the same thing.

Spillane and RTƉ effectively retired Connolly early themselves with their non stop pursuit of him, culminating in the Carlow game. That still grates at me, should never have been tolerated and was far worse than anything Brolly ever said in jest about anyone. Scandalous
