For an area of its size Lucan has made a very underwhelming contribution to the Dublin football team over the years. Perhaps I’m missing somebody obvious but Jack Sheedy is the only Lucan man I can think of who has made a significant contribution over the years

I saw a bit of second half of yesterday’s game …that Offaly team were a real throwback team , some lovely forwards ,moved the ball really fast.

Some lovely long kicked foot passes, some tremendous fielding, great movement and score taking and not a sign of obstruction/ closed fist tackles/ whinging/ self-appointed refereeing in sight.
A real throwback in time an a boost to both counties. U-20 is where it’s at.

An underage All Ireland has always carried more clout than a senior one. Purer brand of football.

On the John Small hit, its time to have a serious look at the whole ‘shoulder to shoulder’ tackle.

Small was lauded for a big hit on Keaney in last years County final and so was James McCarthy on Nathan Mullins a few years ago (think Mullins was concussed after it).

When it goes even slightly wrong, it puts players at risk of serious, serious injury. You don’t want collisions like any of the above examples on a field.

It was a trampish hit

Imagine if all those crokes lads were in the same place. We have a tonne of teachers with serious GAA qualifications in our place but tradition stops us from giving it a right go.

find it hard to foresee a situation where Blackrock College or Belvedere etc. ever take GAA seriously. Rugby is too entrenched.

I would have thought CBC was the same. @fenwaypark would know better than me but they have started giving gaa scholarships as well as Rubby ones now
