Itās a number between 4 and 6.
He spotted it 30 yards out and never even had to look again before giving the handpass from inside the 14 - brilliant football brain and calmness under pressure.
Connacht Final
I think itās a remarkable achievement alright. Short condensed season so very tough for new managers to get their ideas across, find a settle team s d give opportunities to new lads - not forgetting the whole Covid nightmare.
In saying that people will use this as a stick to beat Harte. I donāt think we would have done it with Mickey this year, I think things were going a little stale but he left Tyrone in a very healthy position and a lot of those players reall developed and progressed under his management.
It should also be noted Harte never had McShane, Canavan and McKenna available together.
Derry wouldnāt get far enough in Championship to know about this.
Shur Iāve more ulster club medals than the entire Tyrone squad combined
Itās a funny old game all the same. Itās almost as if mayo never bate dublin, hounded the life out of them and left everyone shrugging their shoulders as if it wasnāt really that big of a deal to knock out the team that the bookies barely took bets on. If mayo had gotten a few breaks and Tyrone hadnāt then lads would be talking about the few handy oāshea catches and passes as if he had matured into exactly the sort of steadying influential captain mayo needed to get them over the line. As it stands heās a villain and his county are to be scorned
(Mayo should put a bid in for mcshane)
That same analysis didnāt cover the possibility of a square ball or a push in the back from Anon OāConnor, so it was incomplete. Watched it on RTE Player too - stilted as fuck from Marty and production team.
Will James Horan stay in the job. That was his 7th year in the Mayo job I think, with 4 defeats in AI finals.
Tyrone need to be actively held up as one of the ideal āmodelsā for inter county sides to take and promoted by the GAA.
For a county that has an overall population that puts it within the 10 largest counties in Ireland but realistically itās probably closer to 20th overall given its demographic makeup, meaning itās closer to being compared to a Westmeath or Waterford for players, these boys show how to compete.
The Garvaghey centre along with the support of Club Tyrone are phenomenal, shows what a bit of ambition and planning can bring about.
For 20 years now Tyrone have been punching above their weight, they hadnāt even won an AI up until 2003 ffs, 18 years later they sit with 4 Sam triumphs. No gurning over curses here.
Itās a remarkable story, and Iāve never encountered a Tyrone follower crying about what they have going against them, but rather what they can aim to achieve. No bullshitting about splitting others and giving out about others having advantages in Tyrone, these boys arenāt afraid of a bit of hard work and getting knocked down only to come back stronger.
Most counties in the land could learn a trick or two from the Tyrone county as a whole, whether they have the stomach to put in the hard yards is a different thing or not though. After all its far easier to feel sorry for yourself and whinge ala John Connellanā¦
Up Tyrone
Tyrone play a lovely brand of football
You must have missed the fella on here
Load of misty eyed, carried away, reactionary bollox. Their previous titles relied heavily on cheating, filth and cynicism. Harteās teams certainly werenāt an example to anyone, and the notion that 31 counties just donāt like Tyrone is risible given the respect rightly shown to the current team. As for garvaghey and club Tyrone, if you want to dismiss club football and pay players then fair enough, but donāt pretend itās some sort of virtuous struggle
There was goodwill to Tyrone in 2003 when they won it despite the Pat Spillane comments. What RTE and free state media didnāt like is that Tyrone didnāt go away and came back and won 2 more, what they donāt like is when an Ulster team comes around and stays the course. Itās meant to be a Kerry and Dublin duopoly.
I think there could be a few more AIs in this Tyrone team. The age profile is good, I donāt think weāll have any retirees this year, Logan and Dooher werenāt really able to give players a go this year due to the do or die nature of a condensed league and knockout championship so next year with a big league campaign and a McKenna Cup they will have plenty of scope to try out new players that might bring something extra to the team.
Some players just didnāt get a look in this year due to injuries or what not but the likes of J Munroe, R Brennan, L Brennan, Bradley, Cassidy and Rafferty could still have a lot to offer along with some of the younger players.
That competition for places is vital in pushing teams on and I expect the likes of McShane and McKenna will be much more of a danger next year when they are up to speed.
Canavan is also the only player of the u20 team that won two Ulsters in a row to make a breakthrough yet so the likes of C Quinn, Grimes, Conroy, T Quinn, Jordan and Munroe will all kick on now.
Thatās nonsense really. I cheered for Tyrone against Kerry every time, I think most of the country did. I donāt think anyone in the country or in RTĆ wants a Dublin Kerry duopoly. Iād say everyone would be far happier if they won no more than one a decade each, enough to stay relevant but not to dominate would be ideal. You seem to be confusing āPat Spillaneā with āeveryoneā.
Itās not nonsense.
When ever Tyrone stepped out of line, they were slaughtered for it - when it was Dublin or Mayo or Kerry stepping out of line - a few awkward silences.
No statute of limitations ever existed for Tyrone. Ciaran Whelan asking for a Tyrone player to make a public apology while, Colm OāRourke talking about a bad smell yet when other counties were involved none of these slurs were there. Itās the pure double standards why are Tyrone held to higher standards than their rivals?
The false allegations made against the two Galbally minors was as low as it got and we had plenty of pundits publicly dragging Tyrone through the mud over it. The nonsense after Derrytresk, the sour grapes from the Tipp u21 manager. It was the same narrative every time. If itās Tyrone, feed the bogey man and give them a kicking.
Thatās what makes it sweeter.
Ok. I do think Dublin have gotten away with a level of cynicism that was never called out to the degree it should have been. But I donāt think Tyrone are the victims of any conspiracy.
As I said, I think most of the country were thrilled by their emergence and cheered them on against Kerry. Those battles were thrilling.
And while most people hoped mayo would win yesterday, understandably, I donāt think anyone has said anything negative about Tyrone following the win. All the comment is overwhelmingly full of admiration and praise for their win, and rightly so.
I think what really sickened a lot of people about that Tyrone team were some of the stunts pulled on Cooper in particular. They were so low that they couldnāt even be spoken about, but theyāre common knowledgeā¦they were bad enough without harte dragging his āholier than thouā nonsense around the place
They were a very nasty team - Hard to feel sorry for Kerry as they were well able to act the cunt themselves against lesser teams. But your points are bang on and very well delivered.
