France bate them too so weā€™re all favourites. Including the Blacks

Rent out a camper van for the few weeks. Cost very little in comparison to the alternatives. Camp Sites on the continent are very good compared What youā€™d see here.

Itā€™s clearly not vital. Ireland have never progressed beyond 8 no matter what their ranking is. Itā€™s unlikely to make any difference at all.

Further they go the more money itā€™s worth and helps grow the game. The irfu are doing a savage job.

Being the top 8 make its much easier to get into the q/fs.

Itā€™s interesting. At the side of a u14s hurling pitch in bray Saturday, one of the head guys over the football/hurling said heā€™s seeing big impact on numbers due to rugby.

Down the road home in limk, Iā€™m told.its the opposite. More and more.young sticking to the hurling at that age and rugby losing numbers.

Especially in a competition where 9 teams take it seriously :rofl::rofl::rofl:

If we hadnā€™t sacked Gats that time weā€™d have smashed the World Cup quarter final glass ceiling a long time ago.

To me it seems like Ireland get the timing for the World Cup all wrong. Peak about 18 months too soon and are stumbling into a World Cup with a nothing more than a prize fighters chance.

Those things tend to cyclical. Hurling is all the rage now in limerick. I wouldnā€™t read too much into it now.

The amount of good players in Ireland at pro level is off the charts. Massive back log of players in Munster, Ulster and Leinster.

Leinster Could field two very competitive sides.

Surely a 6 nations for the Irish this year. Peak 18 months out from a World cup and be blown up with hype in the intervening period with a few challenge match wins vs Southern Hemisphere opposition.

barely 9 counties take hurling seriously and limerick, Galway and waterford have gone 30 years without an ireland.

Lads make out losing 3 q/fs over a twelve year period has never happened in any sport before. Itā€™s mental.

9 World cup and no semi final appearance. In the last 9 hurling championships all 9 hurling counties that you have mentioned have played in an AISF.

Yes but thereā€™s one obvious difference. The hurling championship isnā€™t a seeded competition so itā€™s much easier to fluke a way into the semi final.

And for many of the 9 world cups we were rubbish.

The one that got away is 2011. We can have no complaints as far back as 03 anyway.

Ah Iā€™d like to see us progress but itā€™s a shocking record , considering before the last few world cups we were mapping out the best way to avoid the all blacks til the final ā€¦ I was going to say weā€™re like the English soccer fans before a big tournament but at least theyā€™ve had a taste of a final ā€¦

Itā€™s not really as shocking as people make out in my view. 2011 was the only one We should have won but that was still a fine welsh side.

Iā€™d say weā€™ll be very strong for the 2023 and 2027 world cups. The provinces are littered with class players. Connacht are constantly improving too so the pool of players is getting bigger and bigger.

Iā€™d have said the irfu should get involved with London Irish or teams in France to send players to further expand the player pool.

Non rugby/Eire soccer types do a lot of obsessing about a World Cup competition thatā€™s only been around since 1987.

The last world cup was the most feeble of them all. Had beaten NZ in 2 of the last 3 meetings, yet couldnā€™t even keep the game competitive up until half time. NZ were then comprehensively beaten themselves in the following game, and have again lost to Ireland in the only meeting since.

Maybe but the team had turned to shite. That happens in sport.

Why dont Ireland just put the fear of god into them?

It always happens the Irish rugby team in world cups, thatā€™s the point.
