But youâve won an All Ireland with 2 GOATs injured and giving token runs to some of the best subs in Ireland.
Depth enough Iâd say.

Depth enough alright. But Kilkenny had an array of all stars for a bench at one stage, or at least that was my recollection.
Just on the talk about legacy & ranking of great teamsâŚthis version of Kilkenny are obviously not comparable to the peak Cody era side but theyâre still very hard beaten. Even more so when they push out into an early lead & particularly so this year when they had goals on their mind in the first half. To take the heavy blows Kilkenny landed, retain your composure & respond emphatically to win both this year & last is undeniably a sign of greatness. I donât think that can be disputed at all. Whether theyâre the greatest team of all time is another matter entirely but history will look back fondly on Darragh Eganâs Wexford side for sure.
Not really. Cody wouldnât drop lads he viewed as past it. He would just let them stew on the bench but they were finished. He broke his own rule with Shefflin but he was clearly a liability by then.
Mick Fennelly was coming through and got shingles which set him back a lot. TJ wasnât viewed as starting material for a long time for whatever reason. They only stepped up after the 4 in a row. Who else?
Sure he hardly brought on a sub in the 2008 final despite them running up a cricket score. TJ came on early in the second half and Mcgarry got 5 minutes at the end that was it.
Happened to Tipperary in the 60âs, went 17 years from 1959 without a minor title, 14 without a Munster from 62 to 76
Tipperary Eoin Kelly was a divil for it.
Nicky English before him.
The quick hand pass prevents rucks. So itâs a damned if you do damned if you donât thing.
A lot of rules people want to make encourage more defensive hurling. A heavier ball etc means less penalty for dropping deep
For all the talks of Limericks academy and JPs money really it is just two supremely gifted bunches of players came along at the same time. Merged at senior with an exceptional keeper and Kiely Kinnerk and co. A beautiful perfect storm.
Limericks academy is still doing the same things and havenât come near producing a similar crop before or since.
CON obviously but outside of him you are looking at the panel from 2018 really.

I think the money factor is way overrated. As you say, there simply came along a remarkable group of talents who were within four to five years in age of each other. Excellent manager and one of the gameâs best coaches likewise came along. The longer term implication is that this Limerick panel will produce several excellent coaches in time through the playersâ experience of working with Paul Kinnerk.

Compare and contrast how those two groups of players developed over the next four seasons. Some people are really living in cloud cuckoo land about the last third of Brian Codyâs reign.
Who is likely in the mix for young hurler of the year? OâNeill, Hogan or Rodgers I would assume?
Hard to think of anyone else who would be in the mix. Ciaran Joyce or Paddy Doyle might get a nomination but didnât perform to the level of the other three
A VAR system is bound to come in soon enough. It will weed out the cynical hits and it will also weed out the throwing of the ball.
Itll never happen. Game is too fast to even consider it.
Are you going to VAR everytime thereâs a handpass? Thereâll be nothing played
The money helps you get the best out of them. Helps you keep the management team etc. But he was throwing money at them a long time with fuck all return.
Itâs interesting to hear Kiely always speaking about constantly trusting the process. Good advice for life in general.
Noel Kelly and Tubs were trotting the same old guff at the recent Oireachtas PAC
Iâd imagine Rogers will get it. OâNeill wasnât a starter much although he had a few great games and moments from the bench
The luxury of having a team good enough to let OâNeill develop at his own pace is a serious plus. 7 or 8 years ago heâd have been our great white hope and would have had a serious weight on his shoulders
Is that biggest beating Kilkenny have suffered in a single half since Wexford beat Kilkenny 2-9 to 0-4 in second half of 1997 Leinster final.
The luxury of having a team good enough to let OâNeill develop at his own pace is a serious plus.
Contrast that with us having to fast track an under conditioned Liam Collins into senior action this year.
