2023 Club Championships

Relax, it’s only football.

Do they allow blitz teams in?

Yes.

Ed and Peter on the Sharkeys Chipper Podcast have been singing “The Martin’s” praises a lot in recent weeks and the results are backing up the notion that they are finally getting their act together. They have ability.

The clay court season format does them no favourite though. If they played in a proper County Championship, they could even be a few places higher.

Big calls are part and parcel of the job.

Cody has one hand tied behind his back not having a full deck to choose from. If he had everyone available, they’d be in there alright.

I’ll be burning the midnight oil with the Football tonight. While there are probably only 5 or 6 Hurling Clubs realistically thinking about Croke Park at this point, there are probably 12-15 Football Clubs where its “All Ireland Club or Bust”. Serious depth there.

They only came second in their group but some people think they threw the last game against the Harriers the other night so they’d face third place Crossabeg-Ballymurn rather than fourth place Shelmalier(s) from the other group in the QF. The championship will be over in an hour or two so we’ll find out very soon if they live to regret that.

Surprised with that myself considering the Wex representatives in the last 2 years have been beaten by the Laois and Carlow champions who have no representation on the Power Rankings.

Football is far more box office. Always has always will.

Unreal club championship

It really is The Toughest.

Rian O’Neill was quietly confident about Crossmaglen’s prospects this year in that interview with the lovely Aisling on Sunday, before his buddy Rico Kelly piped in, "we’re looking at Ulster’. You don’t tend to really get that level of bravado with Hurling clubs.

Conor Glass calling out Kilcoo last year was another great moment.

Doubt their is a Munster club in football top 20.

St Finbarrs maybe??

Commercials also maybe at a push. There will 3 if not 4 Galway and Dublin clubs.

Ah cmon, he was fishing for a pat on the head and you gave it

Didn’t they bring Kilcoo to ET in 2022 in portlaoise.

Nemo caught them in the cork county final.

They lost a lot of credibility with loss to NCW.

I’d say Barrs, and maybe Eire Og or NCW. That’s it. Kerry have nothing. Maybe if Crokes get their house in order they will have a crack

Is the Kilkenny club championship final still on on the bank holiday weekend in October?

No way Eire Og or NCW are in the mix with top club teams. Id wonder about the Barrs, beaten by Nemo who were in turn destroyed by Clonmel.

They’ll be pinning those power-rankings up on dressing room walls across the country. Fantastic work.
