There were rumors on twitter yesterday that the French were in a strong position and that things had gotten very bitter in the background.
I put “rugby world cup” into twitter and 4 of the top 8 posts were South Africans hoping they didn’t get it
With Ireland, Eng, Scotch, French, SA and Welch accounted for who does that leave to vote - NZ, Oz and Argentina ?
Belarus
Australia, England, Scotland and Wales will vote for Ireland. That’s 12 plus Canada and Georgia and probably USA which brings us to 15. Still leaves us short but unlikely South Africa will get the necessary 20 in the first round at least.
A big player is going to jump ship to Ireland. This is going to be explosive.
we’ve done it !!!
Anywhere to follow the voting?
The Scotch and the Welch have gone with France, mate.
one insider has predicted Ireland will gain at least 19 votes in a two-horse race with South Africa due to extensive lobbying with those such as the USA and Germany – both of whom are looking to join the Pro14, which has its headquarters in Dublin.
Germany ???
The optimism across the nation this morning is very reminiscent of the feeling in England ahead of the 2018 World Cup host announcement back in 2010 and the hope in Manchester ahead of the 2000 Olympics host announcement in 1993.
Who are our three Loins doing the lobbying?
Bono, Sir Bob and BOD, is it?
NZ have sided with SA.
So far we know - Ireland 1, France 2, SA 1.
I think different nations have different amounts of votes, so it’s not that straight forward.
It has gotten very nasty on the ground apparently – The SA officials are raging with the Irish who are going around screaming about SA corruption while handing out brown envelopes.

Denmark have announced they will vote for Ireland after Danish rugby executives were treated to a free bar at the Dublin Rugby World Cup Stadium 2023™ last night.
This endorsement is worth 0.0000001% of New Zealand’s vote.
