2024 All Ireland Hurling Championship

They will struggle to get near that. Saturday semi is on at 3pm this year due to clash with Euros.

Limk & Wex haven’t met in the Championship since 2014 Quarter Final in Thurles when Limk won by 24 points. Two different teams now. Only a handful of survivors on each team from that game. Quaid, Hannon, Mulcahy from Limk. Ryan, Chin and McDonald from Wex.

Under Kiely, limerick have the same amount of championship and league wins over Wexford as Wexford do over Limerick. Nothing in it.

Westmeath have more wins over Wexford than Limerick. A massive asterisk against Kiely’s legacy.

The sporting world is littered with such cases. You don’t have to cast your mind back past 2018 and Galway for a start.

I think this joke is dead.

Wexford never feared Limerick.

These double headers last 2 years have been kind of underwhelming. With early starts and supporters arriving and leaving in the middle of matches. Saturday will probably be kind of the same.

Unless both matches are close and competitive, that will always be the case.

“Attractive double headers” are a relic at this stage but the GAA remains obsessed with them. In most cases people just care about their own county’s games, as far as attendance goes (unless it’s a final). It’s like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Sticking two games into a large capacity venue where people will be coming & going guarantees low key, low atmosphere fare. Evening standalone games at crowd appropriate grounds on the other hand gets the supporters pumped up & that feeds into the players. Wexford v Clare & Dublin v Cork should be in Nowlan Park & Portlaoise/Toomevara respectively.

Quarter finals seldom capture the imagination or live up to their billing. It is a match that nobody sets out to be in at the start of the year and normally features teams who are coming off a real low or struggling to find form.

Seldom do they live up to the billing

I think standalone games would be a better job alright.

Maybe the provincial losers get provincial home advantage. Or even straight home advantage - if both games were in Ennis and Parnell Park this weekend there would be two full houses.

Its an absolute disgrace the way Wexford are being treated…there are only 5 inter county matches left this calender year a bit of understanding would have gone a long way…this match should not be on in thurles.

Why have Wexicans such a bee in their bonnet about Thurles…….

It’s a bit of a trek in fairness on bad roads

These quarter finals should be stand alone fixtures.and in venues of equal enough distance from the two counties…last years quarter final between clare and dublin was in the gaelic grounds in limerick…doesnt matter if clare would win anyway its just not right…

I think Thurles is a grand spot for a game. The Limericks keep saying it’s a dangerous shithole.

There’s strawberries to be picked

Shur stay at home so
