Its an astonishing act of self sabotage all the same to be going to the trouble of showing two games that nobody cares about on terrestrial television while in an obscure corner of the Internet the last two All Ireland Champions play a knockout game.
Bar on here nobody is watching the football championship anymore.
Nobody has any idea of the format either anymore.
It’s like rugby sevens at this stage.
3 sold out matches at the weekend gone by. I expect good crowds at all 4 games this weekend.
So is this some hunch of yours like Oz are starting to rumble in the rugby?
And the whole country talking about the two games the other day back to back ![]()
You’re some stook
You should take that to the “unpopular opinions” thread where it would fit seamlessly.
All the heavy hitters in the opinion forming stakes * were savagely engaged over the weekend with the quality of the games and ancillary matters.
- Buff Egan and Ewan McKenna just to name two.
Genuinely the whole thing is passing everyone by bar the die hard. Has the credibility of rugby 7s at this stage.
You re a big rugby 15s man and alleged tipster.
Maybe you should stay in your lane and worry about falling attendances in club rugby and the straw blowing around most race meetings.
Attendances seem great. I wonder what the viewing figures are like. Pretty good I’d say.
The viewing figures on GAA PLUS are awful.
They’ve around 60k subscriptions and around 40% of that watch the big games on it.
Some games on it barely have four figures tuned in.*
*excluding dodgy boxes.
Yes the vast majority of the games are happening without anybody noticing.
The scheduling is beyond awful.
The gaas obsession with giving certain teams less amount of games is awful too.
When you get down to the quarter finals everyone should have the same break or at least a minimum of 13 days rest.
The Peter Pans hard at it on a lovely summer’s day. ![]()
Gas cunts. The same 4 man circle jerk.
You made that up anyway.
The cup style format is clearly a significant improvement on what went before with the interminable round robins but you are right, I’ve been at too many stags and weddings of late and one key takeaway is that barely any pubs are bothering with GAA plus. When you think that all the games on it are on at prime drinking slots on Saturday afternoons/evenings, its a bit of an indictment that the general interest isn’t there.
I’d have watched both codes religiously for years but due to the new formats I’m reduced to just watching the Munster hurling championship.
Next weekend is a prime example.
The four football games should be a standalone weekend with proper build up.
Instead you’ve six games squashed in on top of each other.
The numbers are dreadful.
Speculation. Would most people subscribe? I doubt it. What about people paying one off or for bundles.
I think GAA GO puts a bit of manners on RTE for the next negotiation for sure
That would make it even worse then from a numbers point of view.
The reality is that barely anyone bar a small cohort of die hards who also subscribe to Woolie and a few other podcasts are watching these games.
You dont need to be a genius to figure out that long term, thats a disaster.
GAA PLUS is fine for the die hards who will watch every game regardless but on no planet should a knockout game between the last two All Ireland Champions be hidden away in the far corner of the Internet.
So only the die hards watched the 2 games on tv yesterday? Total rubbish.
