Fuck that shit. Youāre a hero. Your transition from fat lad abusing sports people into an actual runner is inspiring and nothing short of remarkable. You did us all proud today. Like any fucker on here refusing to give up on an argument but in real life, which is way way harder.
Hear hear, well said
Your time doesnāt seem too bad considering the horrors you seem to have gone through!
Well done lads. A proud day for the parish
Any day you finish a marathon is a great day, like you Iām disappointed with my time but Iām on cloud 9 just to have finished, and I didnāt attract the attention of the paramedics, tough sight, lots of it today.
Dublin is a very tough course Iād say?? Am I right about that?
But the Dubs are brilliant supporters, hairs on the back of your neck stuff in a load of spots
What did you go around in mate?
Dublin is a tough course. Phoenix Park is deceptively hilly and that hill from bottom of Clonskeagh, up Roebuck towards Mount Merrion around the 18 mile mark is an absolute brute.
Sure, we tried to tell you that countless times. First half is as tough as he gets. Second half is easier but its hard to take advantage of it.
Well done mate. Those ones are more honourable than easier feeling ones. Some days you just have to dig and dig.
My goodness, thatās a lovely, out of character post by you @Juhniallio. Cheers too @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy.
Youāre right @backinatracksuit, the crowd support was something else. Not just the vocal encouragement all round but folk literally with platters of sweets, fruit & drinks & firing them out! A very passionate yet knowledgeable crowd indeed, it reminded me of a more raucous Crucible Theatre. Iām guessing that itās common enough at marathons? Great camaraderie amongst the runners too. People checking on each other and trying to give those of us struggling a boost, but not in an annoying way.
@gilgamboa I was kinda doing a couch to 5km type effort! Run for 4 minutes, walk for 1 & repeat. Sometimes I got beyond the 4 & tried to take advantage but other times I was stopping before it.
You dogged it out. Youāre a hardy oul dog.
Well done @Bandage . Itās not long ago during lockdown where you were struggling with 5km runs. I could see you going out and smashing a lower key marathon in the next six months without all the hype around it.
Like winning at Goffs before returning to the Crucible, to use your analogy
Iām disappointed, not ashamed. My phone died in town, I thought it would have updated automatically. Since Iāve been home and back online, Iāve been replying to texts/messages & chatting to my TFK braziers. Too much explainingā¦? Iām off to Strava this instant. Iāve got some pictures now too.
Agreed. Heās a league hurler
@Bandage more people finished behind you than in front of you. Take that as a little victory for today.
Tfk brazzers?
Oops. Bessiers!
Was it like the end of Cool Runnings as you approached the finish line?
