dont, just dont!
Thats what i thought as well. Starting to think hes on the wind up. I tried the reasonableness approach it didnāt work so I will leave this thread.
You went there first bro
You say associated with here. You said it was grounded in Catholic heritage previously which is where I commented. It is you have shifted the goalposts
You said yesterday you didnāt support abortion on demand where no risk after 12 weeks, ie you do believe in some protection for unborn children, ie the church law you today decried as bad law. Can you not see the contradiction?
Iām on record all through as saying itāll be 50-49. Couldnāt call it at this stage.
Sean OāRourkeās performance on a debate this morning was an absolute disgrace. Katie Ascough spouted a torrent of lies including the guff about foetuses being able to yawn and the supposed āregretā women feel after abortion, and OāRourke didnāt pull her up on one.
Pat Kenny, to be fair, has been a lot better during this campaign than OāRourke, who has been fucking woeful all through it.
Kenny destroyed Ascough when she was on his programme last month. Sheās an absolute bullshitter who only has pre-prepared lines and canāt think when challenged. OāRourke was prepared to allow her shout them (and that was her tone of voice) without interruption. Shocking moderation.
So you are fine if its associated with, but abhor if its grounded inā¦ Thats just splitting hairs based on language
Your whole argument is splitting hairs based on language. You attributed my willingness to abort an 8.5 month old baby from an incorrect intepretation of my comments.
You said yesterday that the 8th is grounded in catholic heritage. Today itās only associated with itm if you cant see the difference youāre at nothing
Isnāt OāRourkeās son involved with the Iona crowd?
I didnāt incorrectly interpret them, i went 8.5 months to illustrate the contradiction whereby yesterday you didnāt support abortion on demand past a certain date. I dont see a huge difference in saying something is grounded in or associated with in this case
Find where I said I support abortion on demand.
You may forget about it so.
Youāre grounded in Galway and associated with Canada
What? Im saying you donāt, or didnāt yesterday, thats the only pronouncement you made on it
This referencing canada is truly bizarre. Up there with mickey harte and hbv rides prostitutes, entirely irrelevant to a debate on the irish referendum. Only one side on here shouting people down.
I donāt know is the honest answer - I simply havenāt done any digging on OāRourkeās background and whether he is religious or not.
However, if this is so, it would make sense. I get the distinct impression from what I have heard of him during the campaign that he will be a No voter as he has consistently allowed No campaigners to ride roughshod over him on his progamme.
And that today wasnāt Steen or Quinn or Ganley, it was Ascough, who is useless against any sort of competent questioning.
I mean, when Ascough lied about women suffering āregretā after abortion being an accepted trend, OāRourke should easily have been able to rebut her with this. But he didnāt, and left it completely unchallenged.
very interesting Red C poll here from March 2017
https://www.repealeight.ie/public-opinion-what-the-polls-revealed/#tab-id-5
The q was should abortion be legal under the following circumstances;
Serious Risk to Physical Health ā 82%
Serious Risk to Mental Health ā 72%
Rape ā 76%
Fatal Foetal Anomaly ā 67%
Foetal Anomaly (non-fatal) ā 47%
Socio-economic grounds ā 21%
On Request ā 23%
It was clear there was huge public support for āthe victims of pregnancyā and that there was very little support for abortion as a lifestyle choice or a means of birth control.
So what happened in the meantime that Simon harris and all the lefty headbangars attempted to railroad through abortion on demand when it was clear the majority never wanted it?
you have met our friend from Tyrone residing in your home county on here?
I referenced Canada to you once, but that was only in a general query as you had lived there for a period of time and would bring a different outlook or info to a debate.
Others referenced it yesterday, and gil now. Im sure weāve all lived in countries where abortion is legal. i am wary of constitutional amendments, for cynical reasons about irish politicians. One thing canada has taught me is how politicians there seem in the main to want to improve society and are not slow to reform to do so. There are exceptions but they just dont give the impression they are there for self enrichment or jobs for the lads that many irish politicians do.
Can anybody explain how the 8th Amendment has helped women in Ireland since 1983?
In any way, any way at all.
Youāre alive arenāt you
