All Ireland football semi final Kerry v Mayo

Crowley showed some great spirit yesterday. He was absolutely fucked. He could barely walk. Was amazed he stayed on as long as he did.

Thought Aidan O’Mahoney had a huge game for Kerry yesterday until he had to be carried off with cramp.

He was a colossus alright, great footballer.

He seems to have a large lump, under his left knee? Any of the Kerry folk know if that’s a permanent thing?

I would have thought, given the relatively short period the ball will be in play for in ET, that racking up as many scores as possible (instead of taking a risk on a goal chance) would be more important. I’d say the ball wasn’t in play for more than 4 minutes of the second half of ET.

You want to be in a position to where you are forcing the other team to go for goals. It’s far easier defend them.[/QUOTE]
I actually cant remember the specific incident Brolly was referring to myself but he laboured the point and mentioned it two or three times. He was actually almost seething about it you could tell. Said mcLoughlin was through on goal when two points up and went for point? ‘Connolly wouldn’t do it, Michael Murphy wouldn’t do it, James ODonoghue wouldn’t do it, mayo don’t have the killer instinct’

That could have been after they missed the goal chance. I think they went for points on two more occasions shortly afterwards and put them wide.

I have been to a lot of games in pairc na ngael and there have been very few as dramatic, perhaps Clare in 96 and a number of Tipp games from 07 & 92. It was a good decision by the gaa.

But no way was the attendance 36k, stands were not 80% full and we were in the corner city end terrace which was full all the way across

He is still a pup, involved off the ball every time I see him live

If 42k were at the Munster final last year, 36k yesterday looked about right.

I actually thought it was about right. Was in the Caherdavin End terrace near the uncovered stand and there was loads of room. The city end terrace by the Mackey Stand seemed fairly sparse too. The capacity is capped at 42.5k I think so 36k for yesterday would be about right.

Was actually a great thing to bring a big semi final replay outside of Croke Park. Should do it more often - it would be a peace offering to the residents around Croke Park and also a chance for provincial towns and cities to host games and spread the income.

So we’re all agreed that Mayo blew it yesterday but would prefer to hide behind a couple of refereeing decisions against them (without questioning the decisions they got) over almost 100 mins.

Don’t know if it came across on the tv but there was a Mayo maor foirne who acted the cunt on the pitch all day. He was on the pitch at every available opportunity and he wasn’t afraid to have a go at some of the Kerry players either. He was caught up in the fracas by the end before the pitch invaders came on too.

Great video. Where else in the world could a supporter at a top sporting event try and attack players/ref and then just let go sit back down.

The elderly steward just watching your man and his daughter hop the wall and get on the pitch.

I was a having a cigarette on the benches in front of Limerick railway station yesterday about 8:30pm as I waited for my train. A chap comes out of the station with what presumably was his girlfriend and they sit down on bench 1 and 2 (I was on bench 4). The chap was wearing a baseball cap and had a tattoo on his neck, quite tanned and with a generous helping of stubble. This chap’s accent made the Rubberbandits look like cheap imposters.
“Have you got a smooooke, buddy?” I gave him a cigarette.
“Are you from Ireland?”
“Yeah, Dublin.”
“Wheeaheere in Dublin awrre you frwom, buddy?”
“Palmerstown.”
“I did time with a lot of fellas from Dublin.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah the Midlands Prison.”
“Portlaoise?”
“No, the Midlands Prison. And Portlaosie as well. They say you can’t get drugs in prison but we got them in through the baaaaaars. They had a bars there all in row (he stands up and starts drawing a picture of the bars)”.
I kind of zoned out of what he was saying after that.
“Enjoy your smoke.”
“Alright buddy.”

Dan hasn’t done it for a few years now.

The regular announcer is another Na Piarsaigh man, Brian Kelly, PRO of the Football Board.

He was shafted yesterday. Should tell them to fuck off when they come looking for him to cover a game the next time.
