Great cut there by Baker
That is schoolboys own stuff
Holding an Offaly side with that much firepower to 1-2 in the second half really was an excellent achievement. Especially as they had scored more than double that in a five minute spell the previous year
This Clare forward line must be one of the poorest to ever win an All Ireland
This is like a different sport
Jamesie aside they were pretty average and inconsistent but yet one or two would always stand up and have a big game like PJ O’Connell in the Munster final, sparrow in the semi final and Fergie Tuohy in the final.
95 final was probably O’Connor’s worst game
Ollie Baker just halved connor clancy
Sparrow was a step ahead of the others you named. He was well into his 30s by 95.
Edit Just checked. He was 28 for the final. Thought he was much older
Yeah, he was a tough and steady corner forward well able to turn it on when things broke his way but wasn’t exactly top class either. Gilli and David Forde made a difference in 97 and Alan Markham burst on the scene in 98 then the forward well ran dry and that was the beginning of the end of the side. If they had unearthed another solid forward they might have had enough to go all the way in 99 or to get over the line v Tipp in 2001
Some score by the sparrow there. He was some man to use his hips
Kevin Kinihan was a fine full back
Anyone else spot Seán Og’s mother in the crowd there behind Daly?
And Hamany an excellent corner man beside him
Yes
Were cork in the minor that day? Sean og could have been playing maybe?
Yes beat Kk.
Eamonn Taffe, pure class.
Who’s on co commentary? I thought it was Tomas Mulcahy but Ger Canning said “Tony” there. Tony O’Sullivan?
Were you around that day?
